- In addition to The Revival, Tye Dillinger, and Shinsuke Nakamura making their RAW and SmackDown debuts, several NXT referees were used on the main roster this week. NXT referees Drake Wuertz (Drake Younger), Eddie Orengo (Bandido Jr.) and Darryl Sharma (Hornet) worked matches for 205 Live and Main Event.

As noted, WWE announced on Wednesday that Simon Gotch of The Vaudevillains had been released from the company after he apparently requested his release.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that former partner Aiden English is scheduled to receive a push coming out of the breakup of The Vaudevillains.

Regarding Gotch's departure, there had been speculation on his release ever since the backstage fight with Sin Cara in the summer of 2016. That fight was said to be a "one-sided destruction" by Cara and it was reported at the time that "Gotch's mouth sometimes gets people mad at him." The Observer noted this week that Gotch's personality rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Mauro Ranallo has needed time away from WWE in recent weeks, as it was believed the tension building between JBL and him was the main reason for his absence. WWE initially blamed bad weather and being "out sick" as reasons for him not being on SmackDown.

CBS Sports is now reporting that Ranallo is not expected back on WWE TV before his contract ends, according to one of their sources close to the situation. CBS also reached out to WWE for comment and were told "Ranallo remains under contract with the company until Aug. 12, 2017."

Mauro signed with the WWE back in December of 2015 and has recently removed "WWE" from his Twitter profile, along with references he previously made about WrestleMania. He's also begun talking about upcoming appearances for Showtime Boxing.

Kofi Kingston went into surgery last week for an ankle injury and is now said to be out for "several weeks." WWE released a statement about the injury and when it happened:

Quote"Kofi Kingston sustained an injury to his right ankle during The Revival's post-match assault last Monday night on Raw, and WWE.com can confirm that the former Raw Tag Team Champion will be out of action for several weeks.

"During the attack by The Revival, Kofi injured his right ankle and heard a crack, and was unable to put weight on his leg following the attack," WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. "Further evaluation and an MRI revealed that the attack had caused fragments of bone to break off the ankle bone (talus), requiring arthroscopic surgery to remove the bone chips from the damaged joint."

Kingston's injury leaves The New Day down a man just before the Raw and SmackDown LIVE locker rooms undergo a Superstar Shake-up. How it might impact The New Day has yet to be determined, but stay with WWE.com and tune in to Raw tonight at 8/7 C for more on this developing story and the Superstar Shake-up."

Finn Balor suffered a concussion on last night's "Superstar Shakeup" edition of WWE RAW from Long Island, according to PWInsider.

The injury came when he took the stiff forearm shot from Jinder Mahal during their match. Fans have been tweeting negative comments to Mahal since the match happened last night. It was Balor's first singles match on WWE television, although he worked singles matches against Mahal at live events last month.
No word yet on how long Balor might be out but we will keep you updated.

Braun Strowman will reportedly be out of action for four to eight weeks to undergo a minor procedure to fix some issues with his elbow, according to a new report from Pro Wrestling Sheet.

The report noted that plans for Extreme Rules and Great Ball of Fire have been changed due to the "undisclosed injury/surgery."

WWE has been doing a storyline where Braun suffered a torn rotator cuff. At tonight's RAW, Strowman, who has been doing street fights with Roman Reigns on the current European tour, wrestled Kalisto with his arm in a sling. Reigns interfered and hit Strowman's arm with a steel chair on the steps to write him off television to fix his elbow issues.

There's speculation on former Ring of Honor star Donovan Dijak signing with WWE soon as he's no longer accepting indie bookings, according to New Age Insiders. Dijak made the announcement on their podcast last night. Dijak left ROH earlier this year and it was reported that WWE had interest in signing him, Crazzy Steve, Kyle O'Reilly, Lio Rush and Gunner.

Buddy Murphy may have suffered an ankle or leg injury at Thursday's WWE NXT live event in Cocoa, Florida, according to multiple correspondents in attendance.

During the main event, which saw Hideo Itami & The Velveteen Dream defeat Murphy & Kassius Ohno, Murphy went down early in the match after landing bad on his ankle.

A WWE trainer came down and talked to Murphy for a minute but our correspondent noted that it looked like Murphy wanted to stay in the match. Referee Drake Wuertz came down a few minutes after the trainer and talked to Murphy, apparently talking him into going to the back to get checked out. Murphy left before the half-way point of the match, forcing Ohno to work the match by himself.

Cena, who is currently billed as "a free agent," is scheduled for his first RAW pay-per-view since the Draft last year with WWE No Mercy at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, September 24th. Cena will actually stop working SmackDown televised events with the SummerSlam go-home show on Tuesday, August 15th. After that, he is only scheduled to work Monday Night RAW tapings and RAW pay-per-views.

- It would appear that The Great Khali's surprise appearance at WWE Battleground was a one-off.

Following his return, Khali's profile was listed on WWE's active roster on WWE.com but has since been removed. His profile is now listed in the Alumni section again.

It was also reported last week that Khali is not advertised for any upcoming live events.

At WWE Battleground, Khali returned as a heel to assist WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in his Punjabi Prison Match against Randy Orton. He prevented Orton from escaping the structure, allowing Mahal to escape and retain the WWE Championship.

Booo! I thought he would've been a hot pick up for FWL and a great addition to Mahal's "team".
