I don't think we can say "best band ever" because truthfully every band brings something different to the table. But if I had to pick the best all around band, it'd be The Beatles. Are they my favorite? No, they are up there though. There's something incredible about "Happiness is a Warm Gun" how it borders on multiple styles and has several meanings - which is true for most of their catalog.

Today the best band? Once again, several genres to choose from. I'd have to say Radiohead is the best band right now in the world, followed by any other artists that truly utilize their talents.
