Bizarre Issues With Redirects And Hostgator

Two issues really
1.   If I have a sub domain set up to redirect to another site the entire domain ends up being forward to that site.
2.   Likewise if I redirect the main domain to a sub domain the sub domain won't work. There is this error message saying it can't be located.

Does anyone who uses Hostgator know what's going on in regard to this? It's a relatively recent issue.
