I am a big fan of Richard Garriott and consider Ultima 7: The Black Gate and 7 Part 2: Serpents Isle two of the greatest open ended RPGs ever done(yes even better then Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim), if that name has no meaning to you well it should. Richard at the ripe age of 17 was one of the three forefathers of Computerized RPGs starting with Akalabeth in 1978 and followed up with Ultima 1 in 1980-1981 he along with Andrew Greenberg and Bob Woodhead who created the Wizardry series in 1981 helped lay the foundations for both western and then later Japanese Rpgs (the two major forefathers of Jrpgs Black Oynx and Dragon Quest were directly inspired by those games, not to mention Ultima and Wizardy were big hits in Japan) as well as creating the first real MMO with Ultima Online as well as the first 3d first person dungeon crawler with Ultima Underworld a game which helped inspire Elder Scrolls 1: Arena.

So as part of his kickstarter for his new mangnum opus Shroud of the Avatar which is a mix of Ultima style open world single player RPG and Ultima Online style MMO, he sat down with Noah "Spoony" Antweiler who is also a big fan of Richards and who Richard is a big fan off.  Anyway it's a intresting interview with a industry legend shame Spoony didn't bring up the broken, unfinished mess that was Ultima IX yeah it was mainly EA's fault since they yanked the team off the game to finish Ultima Online right before IX was finished and then by time they got back to it the engine was outdated and Richard had to have them start the game over from scratch in a new 3d engine to keep up with the times, only to have EA slap a ship or kill deadline on it.

Oh and Angry Joe is there as well and does a funny turn as his Corporate Commander character
