Glad she's applying her immense natural charisma somewhere.

Linda McMahon for Senator!

Cardboard for president!

From Prowrestling.net:

The New York Times features a story on Linda McMahon's bid for the U.S. Senate on Wednesday. "Her husband is Vincent K. McMahon, the flamboyant chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment who is best known as a ring announcer," reads the story. The story also notes that there is uncertainty within the Republican party regarding Linda.

"It is unclear among Republicans how seriously to take the McMahon candidacy," reads the story. "Many people agree that her access to money gives her instant credibility and forces other campaigns to deal with her. But at the same time, these Republicans contend, her name is linked to a company that has built its fortune in an industry known for outlandish and even outrageous stunts."

How pissed is Vince going to be that the NY Times said he's best known for being a ring announcer?!?  Not much research done there obviously.

She's probably got the financial muscle to make an impact but I don't see her having anywhere near enough charisma to carry off a successful political career.

Can't wait till Vince says something stupid and gets her a ton of heat from the press - you know it's gonna happen!

Peace

I certainly wouldn't call big V "flamboyant" either. Just doesn't sound right.

Boss of the Experts, Hero of the TFWF and SCW, all-round giant bag of awesomness.

Draeden

Well she's got tons of money and there'll be a lot of people who'd vote for her for the lulz, people who genuinely don't know who she is and people who just tick the boxes on the forms to make them go away. All three pretty much explain why I'll end up voting BNP if I can, lol

Duckman

Here's Jim Cornette's opinion on Linda's move into politics:

"The idea that Vince McMahon could be in the vicinity of one of our lawmaking bodies just frightens me."

So pretty obvious JC isn't looking for a job in WWE with a comment like that! lol.

Peace

The problem as I see it is that her history/association/life - whatever you want to call it - with WWE is nothing but perfect fodder for her opponents.

Let's be honest, WWE has for the most part has treated it's workers like shit for decades.  No real job security, their contracts are worthless, no health care, no time off, insane travel schedule, etc etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's the workers choice to do that and the rewards for the tiny percent that make it to the top of WWE can be huge, but being called an 'independant contractor' when you work for a billion dollar company means the company you work for, for whatever reason, do not want to have any legal ties or responsibilities towards you while you are working for them.

No matter how you look at that in terms of what Sports Entertainment is, it's totally bogus.  It wouldn't happen in any other form of pro sports or the entertainment industry - even porn stars get proper contracts, those Vivid Girls probably get more benefits from theircontract than HBK has his whole career!

Granted they have been changing it slowly over the years, but the health and wellbeing of WWE workers is not not at the level it could be with a proper contract and an employer who fulfills his duty of care towards his employees.

Then you go back and look over some of the major issues for WWE over the years:

The roids and drugs issues including federal trials, massively roided up wrestlers, massively roided up Vince and just the all round general sleeze that life in the WWE had for a long time.

The deaths of so many wrestlers due to the lifestyle of working for WWE, drug and roid abuse.

The argument it encourages kids to be violent and the multiple broken neck law suits people have no doubt filed against WWE.

Benoit.

I just can't see her getting away from the fact that for the last 10 or so years she's been in charge of a company with a majorly dodgy track record when it comes to looking after the people working for them and promoting correct business practices.

On the flip side of course she can counter with all the good WWE does for charities, raising awareness of the need to vote, etc etc.

But when the media get involved there's a good chance only one side of the story will be heard and that'll be the juicy and scandal filled one!

Linda is going to be battling to explain a ton of shit from her past that went on under her watch, as well as present herself as a suitable candidate while all the time her opponents will be lobbing more WWE grenades into her lap.

It's going to be nothing if not damn interesting viewing!

Peace

Of course, there's also the flip side to the fact of all those people who will vote for Linda BECAUSE she's part of WWE (or was, since she isn't an office holder anymore), like they did for Jesse Ventura. I mean, yes he turned out to be a good Governor later, but really he was voted because he's the same Jesse Ventura who worked alongside Gorilla Monsoon. So just because you put WWE, you'll have those people who will vote for her specifically because it's WWE, and that means you like it.

Personally, I think she'd be a much more outspoken candidate than any of the others, especially considering the GOP's lack of voice being the party that brought out Bush, Jr. If nothing else, she'd be the shot in the arm they need to get some stability and order into the party. Of course, being from Texas I can't vote for her anyway.
