Seattle a sinking ship?

Was going to make this a debate, but didnt want to post one so close to another. Looking at the Seahawks roster, its only a short matter of time until they need to pay their players, and do you think when its time to do so, their going to take a massive hit and struggle to be as dominate, or will Pete Carroll be able to work the books?

I will say if they lose players, Carroll has been the best drafter since he entered the league, but looking at their super cheap roster:

CB Brandon Browner - $750k  - Beast of a CB. Probably wants 3-5mil a year.
K Steven Hauschka -  $780k - One of the best kickers in the NFL, Id say top 5, 2-3 a year.
WR Doug Baldwin - 470k - Arguably their top WR, could see wanting 3-5 mil a year.
WR Jermaine Kearse - $480k - #3 wideout, will demand more or leave, would want 2-3 a year.
G J.R. Sweezy - $500k - Starting Guard, due for big payday. Guards get paid now a days, could see 5 mil a year.
CB Richard Sherman - $550k - The best corner in the NFL, is gonna want Revis money. 7-9 a year.
LB K.J Wright - $600k - Starting LB, very good player, gonna want to get Ellerbe money. 3-4 a year
WR Golden Tate - $850k - Good deep ball man, will want more money like other home run WRs. 2-3 a year.
LB Bobby Wagner - $1m - Could have made the pro bowl, hes THAT good. Gonna want a payday. 3-4 a year.
QB Russell Wilson - $750k - Hes gonna want top 10 QB money. 5-8 a year.

What makes Seattle so good defensivly is they litterally sign every good FA pass rusher, so they can cut some of those dudes who are making 2-3 a year, but outside of maybe Kearse and Tate, everyone of those guys are pretty crucial, and odds say Seattle can sign half of those guys, Its gonna be tough, hasnt been a team that has dominated drafts so good that after the end of the 3yr rookie deals or just great FA signings needs to resign all this talent.

I think you are being very conservative with your demand estimates.

Sherman can fetch 10-12 million
Browner will get 6-7 depending on his suspension
Wilson will be at least 10, easily
Tate will look for 5
Wagner will look for 7-8

If Seattle is paying all them squat now...why don't they have the cap room to give them raises exactly?

Seattles expensive depth.

Percy Harvin @ 10 mill a year
Sidney Rice @ 8 mill a year
Zach Miller @ 7 million a year
Chris Clemons @ 7.5 million a year
Cliff Avril @ 6.5 million a year
Breno Giacomini @ 3.5 million a year - who?

And also add to the previous, Earl Thomas, a legit defensive player of the year is only making 3.5 million a year, he too could command upwards of 10 million (He'll want what Sherman gets).

Seattle has some bad contracts tho that I mentioned, and it would be easy to say just cut the obvious of Rice/Miller but they may still have cap hits for removing them.

Salary cap issues.

The TeeJ of Philly

Good bye Beast Mode.

Anyways, they've played much of the year without Browner, they won't miss him. Walter Thurmond has filled in nicely. I bet GMs wish you set the market price in the NFL though. As far as everyone else:

Expire in 2014 (this year)
WR Golden Tate - would be a nice number 2 on another team, comparable stats to Nate Washington who gets paid a bit less than 5 a year and Tate is younger and continues to improve. They will probably let him test the market
K Steven Hauschka - franchise tag if they can't work out a deal
WR Doug Baldwin (RESTRICTED) - Beauty of RFA, they put out the offer sheet of probably a third round pick and if anyone takes them, they get a third round pick or they can match if they want.

Expire in 2015
CB Richard Sherman - 7-9 mil? Try 12 to 13. They'll pay it.
LB K.J Wright - Big part of that defense, will see second tier MLB money
S Earl Thomas - See Sherman, but around 10 mil
WR Jermaine Kearse - bye
DE Chris Clemons - wrong side of 30, coming off ACL surgery, probably will take less money to stay in Seattle unless someone overpays probably. Will have the benefit of seeing him with a full year recovery. Right now, would probably get 2 to 3 mil
DE Cliff Avril Was only brought in because of Clemons injury, if Clemons is fully recovered they'll go with Chris because Cliff is younger and will see more money

Expire in 2016
LB Bobby Wagner - Like KJ, could see good money
DE Bruce Irvin - PEDs may cost Irvin money and save Seattle some money.
TE Zach Miller - Bye
QB Russell Wilson - Ha, like they won't work something out before this.
G J.R. Sweezy - Third priority to Wilson then Okung
OT Russel Okung - More important than Sweezy
RB Marshawn Lynch - Probably won't be on the team by this point unless he takes a paycut.

If they continue to win, they won't have to worry about guys leaving all that much. Winning teams attract talent. And if they continue to draft this well, then they've got a back up
