In 2000, California overwhelmingly voted to pass proposition 22, which banned gay marriage in the state.

Last year, the courts ruled to not only overturn the proposition, but basically legalizing gay marriage in the state.

Now, there is a proposition on the November ballot to do pretty much the same thing that Prop 22 did in 2000.  It would not cancel the marriages that have already happened, but it would prevent more gay marriages from occurring.

But this proposition 8 is losing in the polls.

What made people change their minds?  I think that maybe people's minds have been changed when they realized the sky wasn't going to fall if a man married a man.  Still, it's amazing that over the span of 8 years, a state's opinion could change so much.

I know I have no problem with this but it is shocking that a state could change their opinion to that much of a degree.

Eh, it's inevitable, I guess. Whether people like it or not. Times change.
