Title: "Dead Space 2"
Post by: Marq on February 04, 2011, 11:57:51 AM
Moody, atmospheric, and relentlessly intense.

Some of the best sound design I've heard in a game in very, very long time.

I legitimately panic in this game when I'm overrun by enemies. No exaggeration, I have to pause the game sometimes and really catch my breath so I can figure out what to do -- plus the dismemberment aspect of the combat was brilliant in the first game and done even better here. Nothing like using your "shotgun-style" line gun and cutting off a necropmorph's legs, only to find out it's STILL ALIVE and PISSED OFF.

Wasn't too thrilled with the story because I had no idea what was going on a lot of the time (I missed out on reading some of the supplemental text logs since the text on my screen is super small), but essentially -- you're going around this massive space colony and trying to destroy an ancient artifact.

Fucking awesome set pieces. Get to the train, or Zero-G levels and you'll know what I mean.

Did I mention it's scary?

Pick it up -- highly recommended.

Oh, and also check it out 'cause my fellow Bindlestiffer and good friend, Dino Ignacio (he did the motion graphics intro for "Lexationships" and was also the guy holding the camera during my birthday roast, haha), was the User-Interface lead for the game! Check it out here as he and a REALLY hot French chick talk about the in-game interaction.
