I'm sure the name doesn't mean much to many but Ralph Baer was the man who invented the first ever home video game console which was the Magnavox Odyssey, while not as widely popular as the later released Atari VCS/2600 which followed a year later. The Odyssey was the system that blazed the trail for the early Pong consoles and the VCS(the VCS took and improved many ideas from the Odyssey).

Anyhow Ralph Baer the father or even grandfather of home consoles passed away at 92 this past weekend. I posted it here as opposed to the random topics since well he is a Video game icon and one that really only started getting recognition for his contribution to the industry many, many years after the fact. I say around 2005 or so.
