YouTubers Covering Songs

One of the things I like to do is look up people who cover current songs with their own twists on YouTube.  There are a SHITLOAD of really talented people out there, who are able to put together small studios in their homes and put some great stuff out there.  I first got hooked on looking for this stuff years ago by following Richard Jenkees, but have since branched out and I follow a bunch of people.  I was following Mike Tompkins before he hooked into the Today Show and did that Dynamite Cover with them, and I was following Pomplamoose before they got hooked in and did those Car Commercials for the holidays.  So, it seems that just putting a camera in front of a talented person in their bedroom can lead to some $$$ and celebrity.

Anyway....  this is someone I just discovered today.  DeStorm.  He did a cover of Katy Perry's "FIreworks"

And this is his home account.  His most recent "40 things in 30 seconds" is pretty good too.

There's another guy out there, who if you have a YouTube account, and you appreciate ANY sort of music... you MUST FOLLOW

Mystery Guitar Man

Here's an example of some of the stuff he was doing before.  Lately he's been playing more with the video aspect rather than music.

But he's an incredibly talented musician and is using video in different ways that I HAVE to imagine that he'll hit it big here soon.  The guy is crazy talented.

Good topic, I'm not huge into YouTube covers but I've found some good singers in particular over the last couple of years;

Last one I've been watching for a long, long time and he does a lot of really fantastic covers...

That's exactly what happened with Charice (international recording star... and Filipina), Arnel Pineda (current singer of Journey... and Filipino), and oddly enough -- Justin Beiber (not Filipino, but he recently uses four of my friends as his back-up singers, who ARE Filipino).
