This year ROH are returning to their old stomping ground of Philadelphia for one of their signature events of the year, Glory By Honour, which is now into it's 7th year!  The show will take place in the old ECW arena and it's already looking like being a fantastic card.

The first two major announcements have been made and they are belters!

First off:

"Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima are coming to "Glory By Honor VII" in Philadephia to make this a bonafide supershow!!! ROH officials are currently finalizing their matches. They will be announced in the next week or so. Sasaki is a true legend. Nakajima is one of the most exciting young talents in Japan. They will both be in action in Philly on September 20th. Stay tuned for lots more news on Sasaki and Nakajima in ROH!!!"

Secondly:

"ROH is going all out for 9/20 in Philly. The feud pitting Austin Aries, Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. The Age Of The Fall has been raging on. The latest development has seen Delirious join Age Of The Fall. The Necro Butcher has found himself in the middle of all these individuals. Now it will explode at "Glory By Honor VII" with the return of STEEL CAGE WARFARE. It will be Austin Aries, Jay & Mark Briscoe on one team. The Age Of The Fall will have ROH World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black plus Delirious. The Necro Butcher will be the wild card in this bout. We will have the complete rules of this battle later this week in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire."

Sasaki and Nakajima coming to ROH is a real coup for the company.  It'll be extremely interesting to see who they wrestle, Sasaki especially.  Here's some background on them both from ROHwrestling.com:

"The legendary Kensuke Sasaki and one of Japan's most exciting competitors Katsuhiko Nakajima have been signed to compete on Ring Of Honor's "Glory By Honor VII" on September 20th in Philadelphia, PA (ROHwrestling.com for more info and tickets).

ROH reached the deal with Kensuke Office for this very special appearance. Sasaki brings hall of fame credentials. He has held the IWGP Heavyweight Title in New Japan five times, the Triple Crown in All Japan and he was US Champion in WCW. Sasaki brings considerable size and power to ROH. Nakajima has quickly become one of the favorites for hardcore and casual fans in Japan. He is known for his kicking skills. He is a quickly rising star under the tutelage of Sasaki.

ROH officials are discussing plans possible matches for Sasaki and Nakajima. Originally, they were going to team to take on Jay & Mark Briscoe. However, The Briscoes have been added to Steel Cage Warfare at "Glory By Honor VII" removing them as possible opponents.

Some possible bouts in discussion include Sasaki & Nakajima vs. Nigel McGuinness & Claudio Castagnoli or Kevin Steen & El Generico. There is a strong possibility that they will be in singles competition. Opponents under consideration for Sasaki include NWA World Heavyweight Champion Brent Albright, Chris Hero, Bryan Danielson, Kevin Steen, Claudio Castagnoli. Nakajima is being looked at as an opponent against just about everyone on the ROH roster. Keep checking the ROHwrestling.com Newswire for the latest developments.

"Going into Philadelphia for "Glory By Honor" in that historic building means a lot to us," ROH President Cary Silkin said. "We knew we had to pull out something special for the fans. We feel that Mr. Sasaki and Mr. Nakajima will give the fans that something special. In fact, it is going to be a special night for everyone."

You remember those great shows at the former ECW Arena. The atmosphere of a packed building with a red hot crowd from start to finish at Swanson & Ritner can't be beat. September 20th is going to bring that back."

The Steel Cage Warfare match is always a crazy riot of a match and I'm sure the blood thirsty Philly fans will eat this one up.  The great thing is no one knows where Necro stands and this could be the moment he does his full on face turn.

There's always a lot of big angles and matches at GBH and this year looks like it's going to be no different.  Damn I wish I could go.

Peace

The latest news on GBH 7, including confirmation of the opponents for both Sasaki and Nakajima:

From ROH.wrestling.com

"Glory By Honor VII" is set for September 20th at the New Alhambra/former ECW Arena in South Philadelphia and the lineup is now taking shape. Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima have been signed to compete on this event to make it a true supercard. They will be in singles action and both of their matches are now announced.

Sasaki is a true legend in Japan and has held many of the most important and prestigious championships in the country. He made his reputation in the United States in World Championship Wrestling and now the powerhouse will finally return to America. Sasaki sent an open contract to ROH and said he would take on anyone that would step up. Claudio Castagnoli has accepted the challenge. Castagnoli, with a newfound attitude (see the new ROH Video Wire at www.ROHvideos.com to see what we mean), says he will demonstrate his strength and power against Sasaki. This will be a heavyweight battle.

Nakajima has quickly risen as one of the most exciting and popular athletes in Japan. He is known as the hardest kicker in the sport. Bryan Danielson, upon hearing that Nakajima is headed to ROH, immediately called the ROH offices and requested a match. Danielson said he wants to compete against Nakajima. ROH officials didn't hesitate to sign Danielson vs. Nakajima. It is official for September 20th. It doesn't get any better than this.

"Glory By Honor VII" is traditionally one of the most anticipated cards of the year. ROH is pulling out all the stops this year as it returns to the historic building on the corner of Swanson & Ritner. Here is a look at the current lineup:

Ring Of Honor
September 20th, 2008- 8:00pm belltime

ROH World Title Rematch (if McGuinness is still champion)
Nigel McGuinness defends vs. El Generico
Special Attraction Match #1
Kensuke Sasaki vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Special Attraction Match #2
Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Bryan Danielson

NWA World Heavyweight Title Rematch (if Albright is still champion)
Brent Albright defends vs. Adam Pearce with Larry Sweeney

FIP World Heavyweight Champion Go Shiozaki will defend the title against an opponent to be named soon

Plus much more to be signed with:
-Roderick Strong
-Jerry Lynn
-Kevin Steen
-Sweet & Sour Inc. members Chris Hero, Eddie Edwards, Sara Del Rey, Shane Hagadorn & Bobby Dempsey
-Erick Stevens
-The Vulture Squad of Jigsaw & Ruckus
-Daizee Haze
-Kenny King
-Rhett Titus
-Plus others!!!"

That is a loaded card that I'm sure is just going to get bigger.  The newly heel turned Claudio should put on a great match with Saskia and Danielson vs Nakajima is dream match waiting to happen!

Peace

They've signed a special challenge match as Kenny King takes on Jerry Lynn.  King is a young, athletic black kid who has great charisma.  This should be a good little match for both guys.

The FIP World Title is also going to be on the line as Go Shiozaki defends his title against Kevin Steen.  This could be a match that steals the card as both guys are great workers, they are hard hitting and have styles that will mix together nicely.

This is shaping up to be the best ROH card in a long time.

Rob

Looks like this'll be the first ROH show I'll watch for a long time. Looks to have some great matches. I just never got into the Age of the Fall as I'm not a Necro Butcher or Tyler Black fan at all and Jimmy Jacobs should stay away from the mic... but it looks to be a great card.
