Give a small review of the last movie you watched.

I just watched Moon, really good film. Rockwell is excellent in it and the plot is pretty good. I felt it could have went on a bit longe, just felt like it ended a bit quickly. Other than that an all round really good film to watch.

Doug E Fresh

My lady and I saw Iron Man 2 last night. Pretty decent. Not quite as good as the first one was. As cute as she is, Scarlett Johannson sucked in this movie. But for the most part, RDJ plays an excellent Tony Stark and I was pleased they focused a lot on his character defects such as his alcoholism. Mickey Rourke was pretty good too.

The Life of David Gale

Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors and this is probably his most under-rated performance. Spacey plays convicted Rapist and Murderer David Gale who is on Death Row just days away from his execution. The Irony being Gale was a figurehead in the "Deathwatch" a group set out to have the death penalty abolished. Gale gives three interviews with Journalist, Bitzy Bloom (Kate Winslet) Through these interviews the true details of the alleged crime are revealed. Truly excellent film, I'd recomend it to anyone.

Excaligore

Well, I've technically been watching a film a day since I'm trying to self discipline myself as a human being and expose myself to culture. Suppose every Friday I can give a review of every film I've watched in the week...

Rashomon - True classic. I haven't seen many of Akira Korusawa's films, but I mean he's generally considered very much to possibly be one of the greatest directors of all time if not thee. It's very good, incredibly interesting narrative, and incredibly adult philosophical experience. Must have been amazingly ahead of it's time with a narrative of simply telling a story from multiple perspectives in multiple segments as is the point. Very well written, especially for it's time, and highly entertaining. A+

Zombieland - Another brilliant film, albeit I feel it's effect won't be lasting. Falls victim to many modern comedy production cliches, but is still genuinely funny. Hilarious? Only at moments, but funny anyway. Glad I finally got around to watching it. Don't imagine watching it many more times in my life because I don't imagine it having the same effect. Still, good film. B+.

Unbreakable - Another film I finally got around to at the advise of Mr.Marc Abrigo. Again, a true classic, and one of those films which entertwines comic lore with a realistic situation in such a bizarre way that can come to modern film, I guess. Probably in one of the most creative ways around. An extremely interesting, well written, and well directed film. Truly appreciate it. A.

Burn After Reading

I absolutely loved this film, it's a great dark comedy. Brad Pitt and George Clooney were both hilarious in their roles.

Capitalism A Love Story - by Michael Moore.

Hopefully praising this movie won't lead to the charge of the EFK white brigade as tends to happen when you like something on the left of society!

An absolutely eye opening and depressing film on the break down of the capitalist system and ideals.  The sad this about it was, it was another one of these horrible situations you could see coming a mile off but no one did anything about it.

The sections on the Judge who was working with a private company who owned and operated (via tax dollars) a young offenders institution was just utterly shocking.  This fucker was working to get more kids into the jail to increase the money the company would get and in turn increase his bonus!  In one year the detention rate for kids in his state went up over 3000%.  He put one kid in jail for 6 months for smoking a joint.  Another got 9 months for making a myspace page that made fun of her teacher.  His opening line to her as she walked into the court?  "What makes you think you can do this shit?"  Kind of ironic really.

Thankfully he ended up getting jailed, along with the guys running the company, but not after his money grabbing ways ruined the lives of lots of young innocent kids.

The movie itself was very good, the usual gimmicks from Moore that you sometimes shake your head at.  However the information and insight that was in there will keep you pissed off for a good few weeks.

A story of the rich getting richer and people getting fucked over.  It's hard to watch at some points, but very worthwhile.

Bought a copy of "The Love Guru" at a yard sale for two bucks.

I want my two bucks back.

Largely unfunny with plot holes big enough to drive a Mack truck through. There was one funny bit in the whole movie (The "Marishka Hargitay" bit), but they managed to kill all of its funny ten minutes into the movie.

Vince McMahon would loooove this movie, however. After all, only one person gets any of the good lines (what little there were), the storyline is jumbled and makes little sense and theres a penis joke every five minutes.

A Serious Man

I really liked this. It's a dark comedy from the coen brothers set in 1967, following the life of a man who's wife is divorcing him, his world seems to be falling apart and he tries to become a serious man.

you need to check out Casino Jack and the United States of Money. I loved Capitalism but this doc is even better.

Prince of Persia

I haven't played the video games so I don't know if it's faithful to the video games, but as far as an action flick goes it's pretty cool. Obviously isn't going to win any Oscars but the special effects were very cool and the action was great, though I thought it was a little bit too long. The ending was kind of...ehh...but otherwise it's a pretty good action flick. I would give it a C+

District 9

I'm not usually much of a sci-fi fan but decided to give this a watch and I'm glad I did. First off I loved the way it was filmed like a documentary and gave a different angle to an alien "invasion". Superb acting and a enthralling story.
