Honestly my friends,

Solo artists out there, who do you put out for??

My all time top two, is quite obvious really, but I will share it with you all anyways.

1. Bob Dylan
2. Neil Young

Who are your top solo performers my friends??

Regards,

JDM

Well,  I'm sure a lot of people will look at the solo works of artists from the past, Dylan and so forth, and I enjoy their work, but I tend to look at what's defining my generation.

Atlas Sound (the solo project of Bradford Cox from Deerhunter) - I think Cox captures the fear and anxiety of our generation extremely well, including the hostility of our times, the unsure progression into adulthood, especially in his solo work. There's this dream pop feel for it, but he's just so damn good despite being so weird.

Panda Bear (Noah Lennox of Animal Collective) has the ability to recapture 60s pop in his vocals, and while his lyrics may be more abstract than others may enjoy, I find it refreshing to listen to music with ambiguity.

Nick Cave, whether he's in Grinderman, or with the Bad Seeds, or on his own, he's got a knack for creating memorable music that gets overlooked a lot.

Ted Leo, an underrated musician who has worked with so many people and done such a fantastic job, he truly is one of the best out there that you've never heard of.

Some very good examples there Jesse... very good indeed.

Nick Cave is so overlooked as you mentioned which is a huge shame!

But then again, his music would never hit mainstream, just like so many other great solo artists...

JDM

jagilki

Tim is (a) grumpy cunt, not Jesse.

! JDM The Professional !

Whoops, at fist I was writing Tim, but then I thought I was speaking to Jesse.

My mistake.

Regards,

JDM

P.S

Their both grumpy cunts so you see my mistake :) lol
