Anyway, a good start to the season for me and I'm pretty happy with 50 points. After watching the games this weekend I decided to play my wild card early and bring in a lot of players. Deco and Lampard looked awesome for Chelsea. Just hope fat boy Ashton isn't fucked after kicking the ground when he tried to do that freekick. He might be fat and useless but he can score.

Well I knew I should have put Gabby on my team instead of Crouch after his hat-trick for Villa. Mind you, Crouchy did good for us last season just coming on as a sub half the time so if he's starting at Pompey hopefully he'll grab a few more goals.
I think having a combined defence of City and Pompey players didnt help week 1....coupled with Berba as my captain and front man lol

I have played the wrong goalkeeper both weeks. I had this problem last year too. I am almost tempted to buy a goalkeeper that does not play, so that I will not beat myself up over this decision every week, even if my chosen gk does shit!
I don't know anything about "rest of the world" football, so I'm not doing anything.
Hence, guaranteed last place.
My question then is what the hell is wrong with Ian?

Jag you do have an all right team. You might wanna switch your strikers around but it's ok. Also, I wouldn't keep your goalkeeper as captain. They score relatively little points so doubling that isn't worth it, but your midfielders would be.

I've made a few changes for next week now that I've gotten a good idea of who's in form so far. Can't believe I hadn't put Robinho into my starting line up but got some points off Wright-Phillips and Ireland so not all bad. Once again, Liverpool can't put a goal past a lower team. I've given up on Keane and Torres and just going with Cara and Gerrard. Really hoping this pulls off now because I think I've got a good set of players now. Will probably find Keane and Torres get a hat trick each in the next game now I've dropped both of them and Robinho will no doubt end up injured for half the season...
Shouldn't be complaining, seeing as I'm winning, but DAMN I'm frustrated with Keane. It's just I know the moment I get rid of him, he will start scoring. Like the fricking Berby doll... lost patience with her sitting pretty in white, now she's at Man U and scoring (though not enough tio warrant buying her back methinks).
I love the League because using my one transfer a week is about all I have time for on the internet these days!

Laurson is my permanent captain... last year I tried alternating it weekly depending on a player's form and opponents that week, but it rarely paid off. Laurson was my best player last year, hands down, I know he won't score big points EVERY week, but they will be double for me when he does, which is pretty damn regularly.
Yeah, Sam, Man City players always seem to be a good bet for some reason. Dunne was phenominal for me last year and Schmeichea when he actually played.
I cannot truly believe that 9000 Americans are doing better than me.... and almost 8000 West Ham fans, that's even more ridiculous :D

I played my wild card this week and made some major overhauls.
Torres out, Adebayor in being the big one. Also brought in Zaki who should score big points judging on his early form.
Brought in Stephen Ireland, Denilson, Figueroa from Wigan and Petr Cech in goal as he's always a safe bet and Villa concede just as many as they score so Brad Friedel wasn't exactly paying dividends lol.
And for some reason I have 3 Fulham players on the bench... And only Jimmy Bullard is someone who I could live with being in the team every week lol.
Just need Deco back fit ASAP. Or for Lamps, Denilson and Ireland to keep racking up the points.
It's also advisable to anyone with any Pompey goalies or defenders to get rid. Judging by their current form. 10 goals conceded in 2 games, 0 scored. LOL.
Hardly surprising when you rely on tunnel vision Defoe and Crouch to get you goals. :-\
Defoe has been a decent scorer for me this season so far. Torres is the problem. I'm giving him this weekend, after that he's out and I'm giving a Jo a run in the team.
Other than that I think Wigan players are a good bet. I've got Zaki and Valencia. Both dirt cheap and racking up points. Denilson is also having a stormer of a season so far!
All in all I'm pretty pleased with the start I've made, it's going to be a good battle this year.
And again...WTF happened to Monks? LOL!

Right I've lost 8 points in doing so but made 3 big changes
I've dropped Hargeaves and Koumas from midfield and lost Harewood from up front
I've replaced them with Denilson, Davies of Bolton and Geovanni of Hull.
I hope they can help out Wright Phillips who has been my rock all season

SWP has been doing well since going back to City, as soon as he went back I looked to get him onto my team so I could get some more points.
I've dropped both Torres and Keane from my line-up can't believe they only have one league goal between them right now.
I got rid of Geovanni, he hasn't really scored anything for me so far.

Fucking typical I get rid of both Torres and Geovanni for this week and they both score and end up on winning teams.

And it all looked so promising that first week... I still think my team COULD have been a good shout though, had it not been for half of them ending up injured at once. I swear, I feel like West Ham last year.
The subs I was banking on at least as starters in their respective teams just weren't getting games. That plan has obviously gone to shit.
I've just been so out of it with work and everything else, I haven't really had it on my mind to do anything about it.
HOWEVER
I used my wildcard, changed over half my squad, and I'm feeling much better about the whole thing now.
If nothing else, my defence should be stronger now since I used the relative cheapness of Zaki and Geovanni to help me afford Carragher and Dunne.
I'm going to keep a close eye on Zaki though, since rumour has it that his deal is just a loan, and his previous club want him back.
Oh, and on a side note, any of you boys playing this and not playing my prediction game also stickied on this forum suck the big veiny one, except perhaps DQ, if he's THAT busy.
There now seems to be more content play in the Monks camp. We were effectively bottom of the league, but now see us moving on up like the Jeffersons. We shall be looking in the future at a couple of Spurs players whom Ramos has drained the life blood out of.
All I know is I fucking kick ass this season!! The trick? Play your wild card once all the early season news is done. I changed my whole team just before week one given pre season form, injuries, non moves (Berba) and other factors.

Well normally I'd have left Torres in and forgot he was injured but I switched him for Rooney day before the deadline.
I've been pissing about changing the entire team a couple of times so lost some points on that but I'm happy with my team now so will just make the 1 available change per week where I can in a potentially hopeless effort to keep moving up the table.
And if not, there's always sticking to playing FIFA 09.
I'm already considering Adebayor's place in the team. He isn't doing anything for me.

An update of the table as it seems Dazz has come from nowhere!
I'd be further ahead but I decided to remove some of the dead wood this week and brought in a couple of players that are really going to add to my score week in and week out (lost points due to transfers for those who are a little confused). I don't want to get ahead of myself here but I think I've built a pretty decent squad and there's a chance (however small) that I might be able to make this lead stick.
I think I'm going to have to make some substantial changes in the next few weeks to be competitive... just a shame I've already used my wildcard.

I've cut a lot more of the dead weight from my team and brought in even more reinforcements. I noticed the bulk of my points were coming from just 4-5 players so I've pretty much replaced the rest now. I won't tell you what changes I've made (you'll have to wait and see for yourselves this weekend) but I'm confident that I have now got a much stronger team than the one I had before. Hopefully I'll be retaking my place at the top of the table this weekend.

I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible to do well without Ronaldo. Unfortunately I can't see a way of bringing him into my team without changing all of my players. Even more unfortunate than that is the fact that I wasted my wild card early in the season. Bugger.
Whoa.... okay so I was the best manager in the whole of October without Ronaldo. I'm gonna take November too without Ronaldo.
You don't need Ronaldo to do well in this league. The problem with buying him at this point is that he's really expensive so you'd have to buy a lot of crap players just to bring him in. Look at Aaron, he doesn't have Ronaldo and he's pushing for that top spot. My advice to is to not bother getting him, it'll ruin the balance of your team and mean that you end up relying on 1 man to get all of your points. You should listen to me as well, I'm top of the league so obviously know what I'm talking about. Besides, the rumours are that he'll probably be off to Madrid in January anyway.
I don't have Ronaldo either and I've been leading the league for months.
It's all about a solid defence to gather lots of points and then trying to find the goals from somewhere.
Only fuck up I've made is wasting points on silly transfers!

I've looked at bringing in Ronaldo, but can't see where I can raise the current £14.5m needed to buy him without selling players who are regularly bringing in points.

This season his title seemed under threat, but the Gloucester Galtico pulled it out the bag and now sits on top with ONE WEEK OF PREMIERSHIP ACTION TO GO, however for the first time he has two considerable threats in Kirk and the outsider Aaron tickling his feet...

I joined again too. After my horrible performance last year (which was mainly due to me picking the most injury prone players in the Prem) I'm just hoping to not finish below Jag again.
Also hoping I'll actually have more time to, y'know, check up on and update my team more regularly, but you never know.

Shay Given - 7 points - Saved a few and kept a clean sheet, should be a good investment for the season ahead.
Darren Bent - 6 points - Scored one today, should be a regular for Sunderland as he was a good goalscorer for Tottenham last year.
Cesc Fabregas - 19 points - Scored two, assisted two and was subbed before Everton scored so he's a DAMN good pick for me this week.
Andrey Arshavin - 5 points - Assisted one, should be a decent choice depending on how much he scores in future games.
Need Defoe to bail me out this week.
I've got 4 players yet to play but a captain switch should do be well for the rest of the season :D

I well happy with my start. The thing that I am pleased with is that my subs bench all got decent points, so when i have a problem with my team, hopefully they will carry on scoring!
Gerrard, Upson and Hangelaand all did it for me this week, hopefully my defense will keep on scoring goals and upping my points.
