Holy shit is this show good. 4 episodes in and I'm so immersed and hooked. Brilliant writing and the acting is superb. Anybody else watching?

It's the best episode thus far. Very intense- Children of Men esk filming towards the end which was brilliant!

Last night's episode was really good. Looking forward to the showdown with LeDoux (not sure I spelled that right).

Me too!
I wonder how this will tie into the murder that happened in the modern day (the reason they're being interviewed.) I had a theory that maybe half the season was like a prequel then the next they may get back together but I don't feel it's headed that way any more. Thoughts?
The latest Ep was pretty interesting.
Pretty big curve ball with the speculation of the government guy being involved.  God this show hooks me more every episode.

I was hoping for a little more from the LeDoux takedown (like the story they came up with), but I think Hart killed him so fast so that LeDoux couldn't identify him as the killer. Too much heat on Cohle for it to be him.
I started watching this with my wife, but she didn't like it at all. I'm sure I'll come back to it at some point in the future.
You think Cohle is the killer?? I think he's definitely not. I think it falls back to the government and that task force from ep 1. Either way it'll be interesting to see where it goes.

I may not have worded that well. I think Hart shot LeDoux because Hart is the killer.

definitely an interesting theory. Hart is Keyser Soze!!

I still think it's to do with the government guy.

Holy shit this last episode was intense. So sad to think there is only one week left but my god will be finale be amazing. Any predictions????

I predict it'll end with Cohle and Hart going over but ending up being sent to prison as nobody will know their heroics.
HBO is saying season finale, not series finale, but I've only heard that it's one year. Either way it's been great.

Next season will feature a new cast and case.

I'm cool with that. I like McConaughey (should win Emmy) and Harrelson on this show, but I like the idea of a sprawling case like this one with two new detectives, maybe other film actors that want to do some TV.

McConaughey if I am correct would be the first actor in history to win both an Oscar and Emmy in the same year, correct?

If it's 2 new detectives... who  would you cast?
Title: Re: True Detective

Gary Sinise and Mickey Rourke?

They'll have to cast people who can empathize with the case. Cohle and Hart both had reasons other than it 'being their job' as to why theywanted to ssolve the case.

It will depend on the story and characters.

I personally would love Gary Oldman as one. Sam Rockwell is another who springs to mind. It'll really depend.

Id like Walton Goggins and William Forsythe

My first thought is Bryan Cranston and Michael C. Hall, but they might be too closely associated with Breaking Bad and Dexter right now.

So good.  One of the few shows in recent years where I've actually felt sad that the series had ended.

Tremendous performances, script and direction.  TV at its finest.

Cheers,
Duckman

Just banged it out over a weekend ... its the ultimate douche thing to do ... but I guessed who the killer was when they first showed him.

Awesome show ... McCoughaney was superb in this.
