MMA fantasty draft game.

Would there be an interest in doing a game like this here?

We would need to work out the details of the rounds etc but my idea would be to do a draft for the weight divisions from 155, 170, 185, 205 and 235 to make a five fight card.

Put the cards together and then someone votes on what looks like the best card.

Of course the rounds would have themes which we can sort out in due course.

So if anyone is interested in either playing or helping to run this kind of game let me know.

I would be interested in playing a game like this but would like to know he themes for each round ahead of time before joining as I remember the wrestling draft and I felt the themes limited me from creating a card I wanted. I think it was more so not knowing the thtme ahead of time and not being able to plan for it.

Ok man, the themes I had in mind were something like:

"fighter must currently fight for the UFC" or  "fighter must have won a title in Japan" etc.

Then again if that's not popular we could just do a straight up simple draft with the round themes simply being the weight divisions.

Depends on what everyone wants really.

In terms of runnig it, why not do themed weight classes?

As in, round 1 is 155. First pick *x* stipulation. Second pick *y* stipulation.

Might have to clarify exactly who's eligible for the weight class though, being that some guys drop weights classes or move up them over time.

I see you running into trouble D-man, as some people dont know who Shinya Aoki is or even Gegard Mousasi, which would hinder who votes on what.

Which is why I'm thinking when the card is made up, the 'booker' gives a short write up of the fighters and why they picked them and the fight they'll be involved in.  Maybe giving their record etc to show why they're a good fighter.

Either that or we get someone with serious MMA knowledge to judge the cards.

I am cool with themes Duck as long as they do not get crazy is all I am saying... Lets say this for example

Rounds
1 - Heavyweight
2 - Light Heavyweight
3 - Middleweight
4 - Welterweight
5 - Lightweight
6 - Strikeforce Fighter
7 - UFC Fighter
8 - Must have fought in japan
9 - Retired fighter
10 - Any fighter
11 - Any fighter
12 - Any Fighter

I mean it does not have to be like that as that is a example I am just saying that in your mind you as the player will draft each guy you want in each class and then you will have a short list of who you want them to fight and if your hands are cuffed because of theme restrictions you have a hard time getting the guy you want to fight ...

First round I pick first so I go with Fedor
Second round I pick Evans
Third I pick Silva
Fourth I pick Pierre
Fifth I pick Penn
Now here we are in the sixth round and I have a short list of guys I want to get in order to have them fight the guys I picked above so now a theme comes up and it is...

Fighter must fight in WEC? So now I have to add a guy to my roster who I cannot put against any of the five above so that means my next 6 picks must be exact with no errors. Next theme is guys who have held the UFC Heavyweight Title before, so now I get teh shit end of the stick and pick last. Well whoever I pick is going to have to go against Fedor because I cannot pick anothe rHeavyweight with the remaining 5 picks I have left.

I hope I explained that well enough...

I am not talking shit about the wrestling draft, I just know that it made me lose interest with all the themes and I do not want to sign up for something then flake.

BTW will it be a snake draft? Meaning if I picked first in round one I pick last in round two.

I also updated the MMA Rankings so that can be used for reference when picking the fighters. It has all the records for the top fighters....whos the champions, ect.
