"Sharknado" Coming to Theaters Next Week

"Sharknado" is easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Despite being one of the most searched terms on Twitter and the topic of thousands of articles, less than a million people actually watched the film on the Syfy channel, which means that "Sharknado" is nothing more than a silly title.

But The Asylum, the company behind "Sharknado," has already announced a sequel. and now comes word that Regal Cinemas will host midnight showings of the movie on August 2nd at about 200 theaters across the country, including New York City's Regal Union Square Stadium and LA's Regal LA Live Stadium 14.

"You know how audiences have had fun with 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' over the years? If the internet reactions to this film are any indication, then our moviegoers are primed and ready to enjoy 'Sharknado' larger than life in cinemas," said Regal. "Regal is proud to be giving our guests this chance to fuel the social media whirlwind by inviting friends to come to the show and tweeting reactions."

GM Franchise

SharkNado was epic in all the wrong ways.

James, everytime you post in the OOC your perception of "yourself" is just as apparently off key 'in game' as GM Franchise as it is 'out of game' as yourself lol.

Now I know how Franchise feels every game.  Speak your mind and you get singled out for it.

Crazy Kyd

I will most likely never see it, even though I'm sure it is an enjoyable movie for all the wrong reasons.

Judge

Never should RHPS and Sharknado be compared together ever.

After some mild success on television, Syfy's "Sharknado" received a one-night midnight screening that played on 200 theaters across the nation. Early Friday, theaters were reporting that New York, Los Angeles and Boston were selling out, but it turns out that "Sharknado" was far from a hit.

While official numbers have yet to come in, THR is reporting that the entire showing took in less than $200,000, which is less than $1,000 per theater. Syfy was hoping that the film would perform well if people got to see it in an audience setting, but apparently that assumption was wrong.

The good news for "Sharknado" is that each showing on television performed better each time, reaching as many as 2.1 million viewers during the third broadcast. A sequel, which will be set in New York, is now in the works and set to appear on TV in July of 2014.
