Title: The Olympics
Post by: Ally on August 09, 2008, 07:24:23 AM
I was looking forward to the olympics and some interesting things are about to happen. I'm guessing a lot of guys on here will be interested in Phelps attempt at 8 gold medals. The British teams in the rowing and sailing look solid efforts for medals. Shame about the Brit in the Judo even, he put in a lot of effort, that injury to his head seemed to impare his vision a lot.

An amazing opening ceremony. Looking forward to lots of things, whats everyone else looking forward too?

On a sad note...

I've heard that 2 American Tourists where attacked by a crazed Chinaman, one was killed the other is critical. He then committed suicide.

I saw the opening ceremony, that was pretty incredible. I'll be catching whatever sports is on but i'm not really looking forward to a specific one really.

Sad to hear about the tourists, though. I heard that's a rarity in China so it's even more odd.

One thing that did happen was during the rowing a massive cooling machine blew up, they where impressed that a 24 hour turnaround for fixing the machine was quoted.

About 30 minutes later, it was fixed and looked new again...

This thing was on fire ffs, they really want themselves to look shit hot. Dunno how London are going to compete with this in 2012.

China's demolished a shite loads of peoples houses to place down various olympic things, so violence and tensions are growing higher, ive not heard much else about the tourists though.

USA leading with 21 medals, China second with 18 and South Korea (weird...) third with 12.

Australia have 9,
Germany and UK have 4,
Canada are yet to win a medal

Reporters have been arrested left right and centre over the tibet thing. Proving China are backing down over their "you can have freedom of press" bullshit.

In better news, England gets another Gold, someone from Bolton was in their team so im told! :) winner!

Great day for the UK no doubt about it, but there's only one story, as Michael Johnson said, "Michael Phelps who?  This is all about Usain Bolt."

His win and world record in the 100m was just unreal.  I've never seen someone slow up like that in an Olympic final and still break the world record.  Imagine how fast he'd have run if he went full out to the finish!  Stunning, simply stunning.

Here's a link to the footage if you haven't seen it yet, though I doubt there's many people in the world that won't see this race at some point.

Michael Phelps is a tool.

He also apparently has a small penis.

What a surprise Radcliffe drops out injured again. I fucking hate her and no mention of Manaucho (sp?) coming 6th for Britain in a best ever marathon result for a brit.

Golds and silvers ahoy and what really pissed me off was the coxless 4 women crying at getting silver and not gold. Fucking whining bitches

Sailing cycling, rowing and swimming has been great for us and we are now 3rd in medals table behind only the several hundred million sized USA and the 1 billion strong China so lets be honest that is fucking superb

Misty May wants to be the bearer of my children.

Get over it.

Best sporting weekend ever.

More medals coming.

Bolt's run was a joke, I honestly can't understand how you can be SO far ahead and break the world record CLEARLY without trying!

Phelps has put his name in history and has made an amazing achievement.

Phelps has claimed he has had over 40 tests.

The guys massive, Spitz did it, why can't Phelps?

Well done sir I say!

The sad thing is that some people forget that the IOC automatically tests every medal winner in the Olympics for anything/everything they can. This isn't Major League Baseball where records fall by the wayside to guys that have been juicing for decades and still get off scott free because of legal loopholes and bureaucratic horseshit.

What Phelps did was legit. Enough said. The man's a physical freak of nature and he earned every damn thing he won in these Games.

Another few golds for Team GB. With a team half the size of USA and China, we're REALLY doing amazing!

This almost is our best olympics ever, 88 years i think since we did this well! More to come too!

A cheetah couldn't out run Bolt.  That is one rapid dude.

I thought I'd hate these Olympics.  It's actually been really good.  UK has done extremely well.  Some awesome moments from Phelps, Bolt and others.

Really enjoyed it and hopefully we can get a few more medals before the games end.

Peace

Did anyone see how the American's have doctored the table to make themselves top? Nice try guys but the Olympics officals say the winner is the team with the most golds. However its still a great achievement to win so many medals.

Bah, I didn't even know there was a competition for the #1 country. It's just a medal count, every country that wins alot of medals do it. At least, thats what 2 or 3 sportscasters told me on television.
