Review:  Complete and utter beating from Manny to De La Hoya.

Oscar was terrible.  No reactions, got hit too easy and looked dead at the weight, slow, old and broken down.

Manny was a machine, just picked him off over 8 round of fast paced, non stop, brilliant boxing.

This is the end for De La Hoya, he looked so old and slow in there.

Great win for Manny though who will coninue to be seen as the best pound for pound boxer in the world today.

Peace

Only just saw this.

I got the chance to watch the fight at work, since I was stuck on a dead table near a TV for the duration.

It should be noted going in that De La Hoya was fighting at a weight around 10 pounds lighter than he's fought at since the '90s, and reports suggest that he fought dehydrated because of last minute problems making the weight, which was painfully obvious to see. I'd debate whether he's finished, to tell the truth, if he can get fights above 150 he's still a dangerous opponent, though I don't think he's an elite fighter anymore (if he ever was, which I've never been convinced of).

That said, Manny is just unbelievable as a fighter, if the proposed fight between him and Hatton goes ahead, Hatton is going to get mauled. Ricky's never been as good as he's been billed, and that's a no contest.

The only match in the boxing world that would be worth seeing is if Mayweather came out of retirement to fight Manny at this point, that undefeated record Mayweather boasts will always be tainted if he never fights Pacquiao.

Rumours suggest that it's a very real possibility, but only if Mayweather drops his weight class to 147, which would be interesting to see because he fought De La Hoya in a much closer contest at the 154 limit that both men are far more naturally comfortable with.

Either way, they're probably the two greatest pound for pound fighters of the decade, and it would be criminal if they didn't get together while still in their relative prime.
