Never mind season, that's one of the best goals in Premier League history.

Incredible skill and technique.

More of a fan of the Wilshere goal myself :)

Van Persie scored one like this last year without the touch to control it. Great goal though. Sidwell's wasn't bad either.

Duckman

Interesting point you raise there Dorling - what's a better goal, a well worked team effort with lots of passes that cuts a team apart (like Wilshere) or a brilliant strike like the one at Fulham the other night?

In your opinion, what makes a better goal?  Do you rate the individual brilliance and technique over a flowing team move?

Be interested to hear from you guys on this.

The Wilshere goal IMO was technically and mentally brilliant - to have so many players all switched on to the situation and passing and moving with such intricacy and technique was like football porn. It was like watching a video game. Every touch was intuitive and perfect.

The Kasami goal was more a combination of instinct and technique. It was a great, great goal too.

I don't really know what type of goal I prefer - having played football for many years I can appreciate the technique needed for volleys, half volleys, first time shots, passes, chips etc etc. I just like to see good, technical football and both of these goals are great examples of technique and understanding of the game.

Arsenal's goal was all about manipulating the defence and creating space in a very confined area and combining that with excellent ability to use the space you've created. The Fulham goal was about vision from a longer distance - both the pass in to Kasami and the run he made to create himself space were great - and of course the finish was spot on.

I enjoyed both goals, just found myself more awe struck by Wilshere's.

and then you have the Zlatan Ibrahimovic goal from the weekend

Zlatan Ibrahimovic amazing golazo back hell! PSG vs Bastia 4-0

Because its hard to pull goals apart.  I love a great worked team goal that has 60 passes leading up to it cutting away the defense like they are nothing.

But then there are those strikes which are just breathtaking

Kirk

I know Wilshire scored it, but shouldn't it be Arsenal's goal if it was the team effort that made it great. Why does one have to be better than the other anyway? They're completely different and both brilliant. I don't see how you can compare them.

I think you're misunderstanding my point or Duckman's question. He asked about what makes a goal great to you. This is all opinion, nobody is saying 'x goal is better than y goal.' Duckman asked about what kind of goals you like to see. This is about appreciation of great football, nothing more.

Rob

Kasami's goal was fucking crap

The video doesn't work.

I happen to be watching this game while I was on the bike at the gym. For those that don't know... in terms of heritage... I am Swedish. So I fully support Sweden in any sports competition. No secret that I am a big Ibrahimovic fan. Was quite pissed that Rob took him in the Fantasy league the pick before I was gonna. Such is the game though.

Anyways, his first goal was an easy one. He broke at the perfect time after the pass and the keeper had no chance. The second goal was awesome. It was off another pass from the same guy as before (sorry, bad with names), but he kicked it in off his trailing foot. Made it look so easy.I Then I saw him complete his hat trick after a loose ball off a bad cross was headed into a no mans land, where Ibrahimovic cocked back and nailed a beautiful strike into the left corner of the goal. His performance was simply brilliant.

I missed the 4th goal though as I left the gym prior to halftime.
