I don't think it was so much that music sucked, but that the song itself was MASSIVE. You'd hear it everywhere, from little kids to grandparents. You couldn't find anyone who hadn't heard it. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the song, but my elementary school girlfriend was, so you know how that goes...
