Should certain people be forced into assisted living?

Everyone gets old and most people lose the ability to properly care for and look after themselves, but at the same time these people are too stubborn and pig headed to go into assisted living facilities voluntarily (I said assisted living and not nursing homes.) I would not call these people burdens as it isn’t their fault, but their care causes a drain on their families, people have to take time away from their immediate families to care for elderly relatives, they have to miss time at work and school and doing things in their own lives to make sure, mom, dad, grand mom or grandpa is getting along alright and make sure that the elderly person doesn’t injure themselves doing something stupid or even making a simple movement. Should assisted living facilities be free to people who require them? as such should someone else be able to make the call that an elderly relative requires more care and assistance then they personally can provide and have the authority to place that person in an assisted living facility where they can receive the care they desperately need?

An assisted living facility is not a nursing home, the person can maintain their independence there are just other people around (nurses, medical staff) who can look in on them from time to time, and provide care. Also some of these facilities have activities where the person can interact with others as opposed to being alone most of the time.
