I don't think it was so much that music sucked, but that the song itself was MASSIVE. You'd hear it everywhere, from little kids to grandparents. You couldn't find anyone who hadn't heard it.  Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the song, but my elementary school girlfriend was, so you know how that goes...

"Just do the best you can with whatever gift God has given you, whatever intellect you have. Use it. Be good while you're doing it. Love your neighbor. Love the One that created you. Enjoy the cosmos. And rock on." - Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty

I wouldn't feel too bad if I were you. Noah Hanson's song was probably performed by the Glen Miller Orchestra.

Every Breath You Take - The Police.

Wait wait a second... I was born to the STALKER ANTHEM!? I better not hear that Leif-Erik is my father or... whatever. Why couldn't I be born a year earlier to Eye of the Tiger or like have Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule The World"!? I digress.

Two years earlier, and I would have had "Faith" by George Michael, and two years later would have yielded Michael Jackson's "Black Or White".  It seems like the 2000's was the Rap/R&B decade in terms of #1 for my birthday.

From 1988.

"She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals in 1989.

Daniel Powter related to my life with "Bad Day" on my 18th birthday (2006).

"Boom Boom Pow" by Black Eyed Peas was last year's, which is interesting because I recently downloaded the album.
