Title: MMA Draft Sign Up...
Post by: Midas on December 17, 2010, 08:58:51 PM
Basic Concept/Rules

* Draft will take place on the EFK Boards

* When the draft begins the first player is on the clock and is given 12 HOURS to make a pick. If you miss your 12 hours you will be moved to the END of that round and given a chance to make a pick. Please note that this is a snake draft so if you are picking 3rd and miss it then you pick last in the round but do not pick first in the next round but instead remain at your #3 slot.

*You can miss as many rounds as you want as this only makes your card weak…

* After each selection I will verify if the fighter you have picked has been chosen, if yes then you will be moved to the END of the round much like you would be if you missed the pick.

*Each player is given 70 Million dollars to draft his fighters.

* You have a list with all the prices for each fighter. Be smart and consider all of your options and research each fighter you expect to choose.

* This is a snake draft so be smart and think ahead…

* Each card must have 7 Matches

*You must have a HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW match on your card, the other 2 are your choice between Womens, Catch weight, FW, BW.

* You may negotiate with other players in public or private. Like a pro sports draft everything can be traded, if you have your dream card in mind and see that you have about 5 million left over then use it to get a better draft position. If you are drafting first and think your guy will still be around later but you are coming up over 3 million then trade your spot away.

* All trades made should be PM to me and I will adjust. You can make trades at any point during the draft but make sure you do them prior to being on the clock. I do not want a person holding up the game trying to make a deal for their current spot in the draft or for more money so they can draft someone they want.

* You must designate the weight class of the fighter you are choosing at the time you draft them. Keep in mind that any fighter on the list who has ever fought a professional fight at a different weight class can be used at that class for this card. You will be given 2 postponement options during the draft which you may use to postpone declaring the weight class of your chosen fighter to the end of the draft. If you do not chose a weight class and are out of Postponements your fighter will be designated with the weight class he has on the pricing list.

* To make it easier on me please say the amount spent on each fighter when drafting them as it is easier for me to reference the list and move on to the next pick.

* Upon completion of the draft you will be given 48 hours to post your completed card in the forums. Once all cards have been posted a POLL will be placed up and the EFK members will vote on there favorite card.

Pricing List

In regards to the list below, you may feel that some people are over priced and some are under priced. I understand completely, but let me assure you that this list was not created out of personal opinion. This is was created using a criteria for each price range. I include the criteria in the list and each of you are more then welcome to look it up and see that it is all legit. This is took me some time so please if you see a duplicate name shoot me a PM and I will take care of it… In the case you notice on draft day or in planning that a fighter is priced in the 6 million dollar area and then again in the 3 million dollar area odds are he is 6 million. But using the criteria included you can look for yourself and see which money slot he should be at. Mistakes happen and I am not perfect so be gentle if you notice some…

2 Million for any fighter currently on the roster of the UFC, Strikeforce, Dream or WEC.

1 Million for any fighter who does not meet the criteria’s  for the above money amounts

Pricing Criteria

8 Million is determined by P4P ranking & Champion in UFC, Strikeforce, WEC & Dream
7 Million is determined by Top Ten rankings from above sights 1-5
6 Million is determined by Top Ten rankings from above sights 6-10
5 Million is determined by any person who has held a title in UFC, Strikeforce, and/or Dream or won a tournament from the three (TW = Tournament Winner)
4 Million is determined by any person who has had a title shot in UFC, Strikeforce, and/or Dream. Plus top 5 ranked P4P women fighters
3 Million is determined by TUF Winners & Runner ups, P4P Women Rankings 6-10 & guys picked in the E-Fed Knight MMA Draft who have not been priced yet.

Note: Since this list was created about 6 months ago I was forced to update it to reflect current standing and such. Several names that were on this list in a higher category due to them being top 10 in their division at the time have been placed in the 3 million dollar category because they either belong their or they do not fit any other category but I do not want to remove their name from the list.

Note 2 : Weight class is determined by the criteria they were placed on the list. If a person has fought one professional fight in another weight class you can use him in that weight class also. For example Bas Rutten was placed on the list because he is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion but this was prior to weight class so he is mostly known as a Light Heavyweight fighter, you may use him accordingly.

When drafting a Tournament winner be sure to check and see exactly how you will be using this guy. He has no weight class attached to him but you must still use him in a weight class that he has fought in previously and if none apply then we use his last known weight to determine weight class with moving 1 up or down being a option.

The TUF winners & runner ups are listed at the Weight class they fought in on the show.

Glad you like it, I came up with this concept last time we had a MMA draft and sent it to Cory who thought it was a good idea but we should wait so I figured now is a good time. We have 4 spots left...

Once the list is complete it will be randomized and we will start...

It's something a bit different and unique which is what we always try to do at EFK.

I'm hoping with this and the prediction league we can really push the MMA board here as one of the best boards here.

Great stuff again Midas, much appreciated.

Quote*You must have a HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW match on your card, the other 2 are your choice between Womens, Catch weight, FW, BW.

I have a question about this rule... Do you guys think it would make more sense to allow the final two fights of your card to be any weight class of your choice or stick to the Womens, CW, BW or FW?

I like the choice....as I plan to use Aldo 91st round pick) in a Catchweight fight

I am not saying we eliminate the options of Womens and the rest I am trying to cater to the more casual fans of MMA who might not have enought MMA knowledge to feel in the last two fights... Guys like us would still be able to do whatever we want but they have the option to do better known weight classes for them...

That is what I was thinking...

Do you have to have 2 different classes fights for your last 2 or can you have 2 Womens, 2 CW etc.?

If you look at the draft thread that rule has been changed to include the option of using HW, LHW, MW, WW & LW and as far as your question you can use two of the same that is not a problem...

Midas,

I wouldnt have made my pick outside the 12 hour deadline if it werent for Jason Scene asking a question which was then moved to this thread.  I was on for that and before he even made his eventual pick.

When I did make my pick, I didnt even check the time limit as It was the 1st thread I went to on EFK and continued to make my pick.

Quick question....

I have Bas Rutten and Royce Gracie......

...this is them in their prime right? Or in their current state, and to be used as a 'one night only' fight in my card? Like if I pick an older fighter, can it be assumed that its in their prime?
Title: Re: MMA Draft Sign Up...
Post by: Midas on January 04, 2011, 05:15:10 PM

Fedor Emelianenko 7 Million Bid        66 is my Number

In both events, I'd like to sell Josh Barnett (6 Million)

This PM from you and

Quote* When a player is sold back he is placed back on the list and is open for anyone to purchase him even if you fail at your bid. So you are risking him with a chance of no return so remember this.

this rule I placed on the silent auction is why Josh Barnett was sold back... This was not a case where you could simply sell a fighter if you won a bid you selling him happens regardless as I said above and actually I honestly thought when you said in both events that meant sell him regardless but after reading it again I see what you meant...

But sorry it was clear in in the rule above that when you sell a guy it is not contigent on you winning a bid...

Yeah basically the draft last 14 round so everyone can complete rosters... If you are out of money and have completed your roster before round 14 then simply pass when it is your turn to pick... If you have not completed your roster and are out of money then time to make some deals...

I don't think the 14 round deal was cited from the start. Does this essentially mean, if I have extra money by the end of the round 14; I can't buy an extra fight on my card?

While the 14 rounds was not made clear at the start a SEVEN fight card was made clear which implies you would need 14 rounds to pick up 14 fighters to make the card complete... However I never considered the fact that if the person wanted more then 7 fights since 70 million seemed like a fair amount for 7 fights...

Is it your intent to have a 8 fight card?

Quote* Each card must have 7 Matches

With this made clear before the sign ups were opened I am going to say that 7 is the magic number no more no less...

I also have a question for anyone willing to chime in...

Do you guys want to make it so that when the 14 rounds are over everyone is given a chance to sell back at most 2 fighters for the amount spent on them and purchase at most 2 fighters from the list of fighers not purchased. I personally am not to worried about it but I am thinking that some may have made small errors along the way and might need something like this to make their roster complete...

I am just tossing this idea out there for people to discuss...

CHUCK NORRIS, 1 MIL (MW)

http://www.athlete.com/profile.php?id=405 (http://www.athlete.com/profile.php?id=405)

2 Mil Left

BJ Penn (LW - 8 Mil)
Randy Couture (LHW - 7 Mil)
Gray Maynard (LW - 7 Mil)
Wanderli Silva (MW - 7 Mil)
Lyoto Machida (LHW - 8 Mil)
Dan Severn (HW - 5 MIL)
Igor Vovchanchyn (HW - 3 Mil)
Ken Shamrock (LHW - 4 Mil)
Sean Sherk (LW - 6 Mil)
Brock Lesnar (HW - 7 Mil)
Dan Hornbuckle (WW - 3 Mil)
Chuck Norris (MW - 1 Mil)

First Franchise you were not up in the draft but the fact that Briggs made a invalid pick at the start of the new round means I will let you slide in this situation... Now since Chuck Norris is a ACTOR by trade I need you to prove to me that he is a MMA fighter and fought in the MW division... Send it to me via PM...

Quote* All trades made should be PM to me and I will adjust. You can make trades at any point during the draft but make sure you do them prior to being on the clock. I do not want a person holding up the game trying to make a deal for their current spot in the draft or for more money so they can draft someone they want.

I don't know anything about a trade...
Title: Re: MMA Draft Sign Up...

In response to the Midas Touch...

It's your game (a fun one mind you) but in the future I suppose this is something to think about. While I can't find any fault in your wording ''each card must have seven fights'' I did originally assume that meant no less then but okay, fair point. Though, the 14 round deal is somewhat still limiting because it means one player can't trade two guys for one. And while the rules state you can only have seven fights, there's nothing about using every fighter you picked either because the 14 round rule wasn't established until now...

I think you should be able to aquire picks after the initial 14 rounds are done in open forum after the draft or the option to aquire picks until all money is spent seems like a good idea next time (with a maxium on how many matches you CAN have as to not have a billion 1 M vs. 1M fights on the card...) to add a few different stategies to the game...

But sticking with this game:

QuoteDo you guys want to make it so that when the 14 rounds are over everyone is given a chance to sell back at most 2 fighters for the amount spent on them and purchase at most 2 fighters from the list of fighers not purchased. I personally am not to worried about it but I am thinking that some may have made small errors along the way and might need something like this to make their roster complete...

This personally would fix my problem. I have fights in mind... and I don't want to sacrifice match ups just so I can spend off all the extra money I have, due to my play strategy taking somewhat of a hit...

Title: Re: MMA Draft Sign Up...
Post by: Midas on January 16, 2011, 12:20:44 AM
Ok for the sake of flexability and allowing players to get the most out of their card here is two amendments...

1) At the end of the 14 round in the current order we have been using players will be given two extra rounds in which they are allowed to sell back a fighter for the amount spent on him and purchase a new fighter.

Here is how it will work....

After the 14 rounds we have 2 extra rounds...
Players ready to sale back fighters have 24 hours to PM me with the fighters they are selling back...
Once this is done those fighters will be back on the block and everyone will be notified who is back on the block and we will start the extra two round...
You now have those two rounds to complete your roster...
You are not required to sell back fighters if you have a excess of money left over, you will be given these two rounds to use your extra money to purchase extra fighters but keep in mind the 7 fights MIN/MAX card is still in effect so having extra fighters does not give you extra fights...

2) If you have designated a weight class for your fighter and would like to change it you will be able to do so at the end of the draft...

Ok I mean if you want to do that deal that is your buisness but BD remember that when the draft is over you will have 24 hours to sell back up to two fighters and then 2 rounds to redraft... Then you are also given extra rounds in order to fill out your roster in case you are short on fighters...

Meaning

When the draft is over you could sell back two 7 million dollar fighters and add 14 million dollars back to your bank..
Then you can use the next two rounds to draft two 4 million fighters dollar fighters leaving you with 6 million...
Then you can use the make-up rounds to fill in your roster with the remaining 6 million...

Just FYI... But if you still want to do this trade with Briggs just say so..

Sorry about the time difference Duckman... You have a double pick at the end of this round and to be fair since you do live in a different time zone then the rest of us I will give you 24 hours to make both picks...

That is two people in a row who picked fighters a listed them as 1 million when it clearly says ANY FIGHTER ON UFC, STRIKEFORCE, DREAM & WEC is 2 Million...

Guys if someone is not on the list and you want to pick them first thing you should do is look them up and see if they fit any criteria above 2 million... If they dont then you should see if they are on the roster of one of the four companies named above...

If the fighter has a fight scheduled in one of these promotions then he is on the ROSTER...

Thanks man.  I'm not wanting to fuck this game up cause it's been awesome so far.

Just so I'm straight, after Blade makes his pick, I've got 2 picks to make?

Peace

No problem you are not messing anything up... Yeah after Blade makes his pick you are up for two picks, one for last round and one for this one... Blade might go over the deadline because he sent me a PM about his pick last night and I just responded to him and I believe he has a time zone issue also...

Once that is over we will move to the final round which should move quickly as some people are acutlaly done with their roster... Then we move to the 24 sell back period and then we start the final two rounds where people fixs the mistakes made during the draft as they should have more money by selling back fighters... Then finally if someone still does not have 14 fighters we have a makes up round... But I suspect these rounds will all go really fast...

Yeah I check each pick that is in the 2 million or 1 million to make sure... Hell I was tempted to put Tim Kennedy as 2 million and see if anyone catched it but I decided to be fair...

I screwed up the numbers. Did that right when I was heading for class so it's my bad on that. Just had my remaining money and the fighter's money worth mixed up. Should've double checked it before I left.

There is going to be one more round? as I still need one more fighter

Yeah after this round is over you have 24 hours to sell back a pick or two if you want... After that the draft has two more rounds in which guys who sold back fighters finish up their roster or guys who need to complete their roster finish it up...

Now for example lets say a person currently has 13 fighters... He sells back two and picks two in the next two rounds, he still has 13... We have a final round for just that and then the card is complete... It sounds like alot of rounds but trust me it will fly by since I am confident not everyone will be using these final rounds to complete their roster...

Ok, how will the order go for the "dropping" round, as it could influence who I drop if someone I want gets dropped.

I'm alreadying giving my NOD to Sam, fucking unreal roster.

I would also like to thank Sam and L-1 for making this draft as horrible for me as possible. If yyou could see the piece of paper I made for the draft, nearly everytime one of you picked I had to rearrange everything, lol. kudos.

Thanks bro.  Trying to get that good blend of stand up wars, technical ground fights and then something with a bit of backstory (Sakuraba/Gracie) to finish off the card.

Don't worry though man, you weren't the only one who had to keep changing your line up!!  I really wanted to try and do Dan Hardy vs. Paul Daley but couldn't!!

Really looking forward to all the rosters getting finalised.

Awesome work Midas in getting this going.

Well once we move out of the drop round the picks will be based on the same order we have been picking thus far... I believe that starts with BD and ends with Blade...

I cannot predict who will drop players and who will not but basically if  person has a complete roster no money & did not drop someone or simply told me they are finished they will not be on the list in the final round... So the final rounds could possibly be only one person or all 9 I have no real clue..

Thanks Duck...

Did you know that Midas is great at MMA drafts but sucks at comedy LMAO

Yeah I am hoping that this game serves more as a Beta game so that next time we have all the kinks out and can make it better...

Maybe someone will take the time to turn this into a wrestling draft game... WOW that would take a while lmao..

Can we not do the votes by poll instead of Pm?

I was thinking about a point system but if you guys want a poll I can do that also...
