The Binge

New album out on Monday with lyrics left behind by missing lyricist Richey James Edwards, heard a few tracks from it, really looks like a return to form.

Thoughts?

Had not actually heard of these guys, to be honest. I will check it out and get back to you.

Russ

Boss of the Experts, Hero of the TFWF and SCW, all-round giant bag of awesomness.

Duckman

One of the most lyrically interesting bands the UK ever produced.

Went down hill for a few years especially after the album "This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours."

I loved Generation Terrorists, Gold Against The Soul wasn't too bad and Holy Bible is one of the most imporant albums a British band has ever produced.

Of course most people will know Everything Must Go because of how big it blew up and also the story surrounding the disappearance of Richey.

The Masses Against The Classes was also a top single!

I've always loved The Manics and have seen them live a number of times.  The lyrics (especially those by Richey) really meant something and I would put them up against any band who claimed to have a message.

Think I'll put some Manics on the next EFK show!

Oh and I'm downloading the new album as we speak!  Here's hoping it's the true return to form I've heard it is.

Peace

Gradually getting myself the entire collection of their CDs. Got "Send Away The Tigers", "This Is My Truth" and "Journal for Plague Lovers" currently and copies of Holy Bible and EMG. Really love the song "From Despair to Where".

It's not as good as the really old stuff, my favourite songs since Tolerate/Motorcycle Emptiness. Better than I expected.

The Rick

Hmm might check this out then, haven't bought one of their albums containing new material since This is My Truth.

Rob

Love the band. Very good album, the lyrics are obviously a lot like what they used to do and I loved those old tracks when Richey was still round. I saw Manics about a year and a half ago and they still play a lot of the songs Richey wrote with the band. They were touring Send Away The Tigers and played very few songs from the new album, so obviously they're still very attached.
