From prowrestling.net:

Moore County, N.C. officials have dropped several charges against Jeff Hardy stemming from his 2009 arrest, according to James Caldwell of PWTorch.com.. The felony drug trafficking charge and two felony charges of possession of schedule three controlled substances.

The charge of felony possession of cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for redistribution of controlled substances have been dropped, as has the misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. However, Hardy is now facing conspiracy to traffic opium, which was added in January 2010. He is scheduled to return to court on July 6.

The article goes on to say that the trafficking charge relates to the amount of opium he had in his possession.  Possession of opium is considered a misdemeanor that carries a 45-day jail sentence for a first offense in North Carolina, but the trafficking charge would likely carry a stiffer penalty.

Peace

Or not....from Prowrestling.net:

TNA wrestler Jeff Hardy still faces all of the previous drug charges despite previous reports that three of the four major charges were dropped. "His charges are still pending," District Attorney Maureen Krueger told The Pilot. "In fact, a new one was added."

Hardy and his attorney James Van Camp were in court on June 3, but a full calendar prevented the case from being heard, so it was once again continued. The new charge that Hardy is facing is a felony for trafficking opium. Hardy's next trial date has not been set. To read more on the story, visit ThePilot.com.

Powell's POV: The "web rumors" that the story repeatedly references stemmed from pro wrestling online reporters contacting county officials and being told that three of the four charges had been dropped. Apparently, there was some type of clerical issue. For the record, this was not a Dot Net story, as another website was credited for the report earlier this week. We'll continue to follow the story and will provide updates as new information is available.
