Apocalypse Now!

No idea, just a very compelling surreal epic. Really incredible the concept that the world around the characters is going insane and they don't even know it.

I have several favourites, to be honest. It's hard to pick when they're poles apart like these ones.

(copy pastea from another similar topic)
QuoteI, personally, am a fan of both the first Matrix and first Pirates of the Caribbean films. Enter the Matrix was very interesting and unique, and far more entertaining than the later ones, what with the none-invincible Neo, and the lobby scene, let's be honest, fucking owns.

Curse of the Black Pearl... well, the soundtrack kicks ass, I think the cast is extremely good, and what really made it was the whole part where Jack is sailing into port on the sinking sail boat, and steps off the top of the sail just as it hits bottom. I loved that scene SO much.

Recently, I've also seen Reservoir Dogs, which is most certainly right up there. I love how the story is told out of sequence, and gradually it's revealed who's the mole, until finally everything just all goes to hell. Great watch.

Finally, I love, love, love the Princess Bride. It's funny, it has a great story, and the acting, in my opinion, is fantastic. What more would you want?

It's impossible for me to state the greatest movie of all time, though I will state my 10 favorites of all time in no order

Casablanca, Memento, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine, The Princess Bride, Die Hard, The Dark Knight, No Country for Old Men, and the Departed.

Ryan Ruckus

My list is a lot like Tim's. Especially when dealing with "dessert" movies. Also, I generally like anything by Charlie Kaufman, William Goldman (best screenwriter ever), Terry Gilliam, and Robert Rodriguez. (Though Rodriguez is mostly due to respect for the way he works and not always content.)

Also, I own pretty much every comicbook movie ever. A lot of 'em suck balls, but I believe in supporting things you want to see more of. And they can't get 'em right if they're not making 'em. Same with Horror flicks.

I never thought I would see Memento in a list but I am very happy you did!

Its a great movie.

My top five would be: (in no order)

For a few Dollars more- Such a great sequal to a fistful of dollars.
The usual Suspects- Best suspence movie ever
A fistful of dollars- Need I say anything
The 39 steps- Although this was made in 1935, it was incrdibly unique for the time and had much to like about it
Dodgeball- best...comedy...ever...

JDM

In all fairness... Dodgeball?

technically asking the greatest movies of all time and your favorite movies of all time are two very different things.

Dr Strangelove, Godfather, Godfather 2, Singing in the Rain, Nosferatu, Chinatown, Annie Hall, City of God, Seven Samurai, The Third Man, Duck Soup, that list can go on and on forever.

Fundamentally changing film for me were movies like Seven, The Usual Suspects, Natural Born Killers, Trainspotting

Movies I can never stop watching if i ever catch them on: Spiderman 2, The Dark Knight, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

MOvie that no one has heard of and is worse off for never having seen it: The Passion of Joan of Arc. Perhaps the single greatest female acting performance Ive ever seen.

Duckman

I'm with Lemke on this one.  It's difficult to compare 'greatest' movies with your 'favourite' movies.  I fucking LOVE Superbad but I would never claim it's the greatest movie of all time!

So I'm going for my personal favourites, in no particular order:

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Big Lebowski
Seven
The Usual Suspects
Superbad
District 9
Trainspotting
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
Terminator 2
Chinatown
Goodfellas
The Godfather
The Godfather Part 2
No Country for Old Men
X Men 2
Watchmen - controversial and not as good as the book but I really enjoyed this film - especially 2nd time around!
Casino Royale

Probably loads I've forgotten but that's a decent list to give a flavour of what I like.

Peace

Duckman
