Im not referencing trading a guy you have on your team to your new team.

It's trading a guy for another player, then taking that newly aquired player (who wont be acquired until NEXT season) and trading him to the new team.

Well if you look at is as A players rights, the Defenders future confirmed that Tampa would have the rights of Hurtz next season, meaning Tampa traded the rights to Calgary.

The thing im loving is that as part of the trade Free (in his last year, could be snatched) now has to be protected so he can't test FA or anything.

It appears that it can be done with draft picks so that it can be done with players as well isn't really that surprising.
