Yes, you can't protect your player if they have an expiring deal, unless you re-sign them for next season.

BUT all this protecting is for the offseason, its no known to players currently and all the destinations where players are listed as signing has not actually "happened yet"

The free agents are the same as the ones we'd be able to talk to based on the destinations sheet.

Ian asked us last season to post our protections early so he could get things moving faster on his end, so the cool part of that is seeing where players are going next year before it actually happens.

If you trade player you have to protect them and the trading team protects the player you will later get.

ALSO: if you sign a free agent from another team for next season you do not have to protect them, as they do not join your roster until AFTER the time when the protections all take place in the FBL timeline.

Basically, protect 6 players that you want to keep or trade. Don't protect 2 players you don't want to keep or who are going into FA.

You can, but not yet. After the All Star Break. They are normal free agents.
