Some GMs learn better from the bench...  And if you aren't sure you will have a job next season you are less likely to do stupid things to get fired.

And then some GM's just don't learn #CoryImplodes!

League size and roster size is fine, just need people to sign up and committ and not say they haven't the time when it's really not time consuming

Adam Wrong

Time consuming?

This game takes up approximately 10 minutes of my day on average and is probably one of the most fun things online that I have played

T-Bonizzle

I made two posts to lock in for the week...time consuming is the one thing it isn't.

James, everytime you post in the OOC your perception of "yourself" is just as apparently off key 'in game' as GM Franchise as it is 'out of game' as yourself lol.

Now I know how Franchise feels every game.  Speak your mind and you get singled out for it.

I disagree. It's time consuming, just not incredibly time consuming.

In the offseason when you're taking over a team that is devoid of talent, it's time consuming to put together a team worth having, one worth putting interest in. Adam was around to do that and he was interested in it. I can tell you if I didn't have time when I started to put together a decent team, I probably wouldn't be as interested in the game as I am.

During the season, sure it's not time consuming but that's not when new mangers take over, they take over at the time when it is time consuming.

I feel we have too many teams (have no problem with the roster size, I like it), but at the end of the day, If Ian says the amount of teams is fine, then the number teams are fine.

But to say it's not time consuming, to me is a lie. Last night, I missed Ian's bunches of updates which, had I had more I wanted to do before locking in, would have held the game up from advancing. Personally speaking, when I miss when is is on for multiple updates, I feel as if I'm holding the game up, making it less efficient. And I'm about efficiency.

It is time consuming, again, not overly. It's not like fantasy football where I can just set my line up and be done with it. There's more to it than that. You're managing personalities and trying to figure out the way to fix a situation you're in, I feel like new players aren't told that ahead and we tell them to look at Kentucky and Puerto Rico to learn the game  which are terrible ways to look at the game as a new guy because you see two guys whose reps are incredibly high do things average guys couldn't.

Gates

I think the best way to sum up the time consuming bit is that it's as time consuming as you make it. Yeah, a new manager taking over a team will get hit with a bunch of stuff to do all of a sudden, but I think that's where Ian is speaking from when he talks about more committed managers.

T-Bonizzle

Well I mean, we made it through the hard part, off-season is over.

Reya Serra

Yeah the regular season's pretty much like this.

- Answer Media Questions
- Talk To Coach
- Talk To Players (Optional)
- Lock In
- Repeat

It does make things difficult sometimes to get those things accomplished in a timely fashion with the majority of us living in North America and the mod living in the UK, but it's not so difficult that it's unmanageable.

In the end though, in terms of the people that play it this game's kinda like mafia in that there's always going to be people more committed to playing it than others.

Usually we aren't accountable to the pace of the game. It flows as best time allows which is why I love modding it. I literally can not accept any notion that this game is time consuming...people just get bored with it.

... if you're relying on signing free agents in the off-season to build a team you're fucked regardless. I spend more time on the shitter then I do playing on average (though it occurs that might be a great time to FBL and kill two birds with one ... stone?)
