The 10th Man Is Named!

The Psychopath Has A New Project...

Nine have come, seven more will follow, and one of those was officially set this morning when ROHWrestling.com was provided with the name of the tenth individual who will enter into the World Tag Title Tournament that begins on July 27thin Providence, RI. That man is one who made a surprising return to Ring of Honor at "Border Wars 2013" and is coming off a hard-hitting battle with Michael Elgin at "Best in the World 2013":

"The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa!

Ciampa, while having come quite close to capturing the World TV Title in the past, has yet to claim an ROH championship during his tenure with the company. "The Sicilian Psychopath" looks to change that when his journey towards the World Title begins on August 3rd in Toronto at "All Star Extravaganza V".

Who will be his opponent? Well with six more individuals still to be named to the field that revelation is still to come but make sure you check back later today to see who the 11th entrant into the tourney will be! Providence, Toronto, NYC, and Philadelphia...

Lucky Eleven...

The Tournament Gets A Lethal Injection!

The number eleven is a lucky one when it comes to the game of craps and for our next entrant's sake, hopefully that parlays over to the World Title Tournament that begins on July 27th as part of the "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV Tapings in Providence! Just who is that next man?

Jay Lethal!!!

Lethal has had his eyes set on the World Title since the day he returned to Ring of Honor in 2011 after a lengthy absence and nearly fulfilled that dream in a pair of bouts with Davey Richards during The American Wolf's title reign as well as twice against Kevin Steen during his reign. Now, in Providence on the 27th, Jay's dream will begin anew when he has his 1st round battle during the ROH TV Tapings.

Should he prove victorious the chase will continue in Toronto and NYC before culminating during "Death Before Dishonor XI" weekend in Philadelphia!

The 12th Man...

Michael Bennett Has His Eyes On The prize!

The field for the World Title Tournament is almost complete with 11 of the 16 competitors announced. With the tourney set to kick-off on July 27th when ROH heads to Providence, RI for a round of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV Tapings the names have been coming out fast and furious on ROHWrestling.com.

Now we have been provided with the next entry for the brackets and he is a man who had two opportunities to become World Champion during his ROH tenure when he challenge Kevin Steen but came up short on both occassions. Now, with a new fire underneath him, the next man to join the tournament is hungry to prove himself deserving of the hype that preceeded him:

Michael Bennett!!!

The man recently declared that "The Prodigy is dead" but what that means for his future remains to be seen. One can be certain though that on August 3rd in Toronto, when Bennett begins his quest to claim the World Title, that the ROH faithful will find out exactly what it means.

There are still four men left to be named to the World Title Tournament; make sure you check back here at ROHWrestling.com to see who draws the number many consider unlucky: 13!

Entrant Number 13!

Two men but only one spot...

Triskaidekaphobia...

It's the fear of the number 13 and let's just hope that neither of the two men who will vie for the 13th spot in the World Title Tournament suffer from it because this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

On July 27th in Providence, while the World Title Tournament is kicking off around them, Silas Young and the newly-signed Adam Page will go one-on-one with the winner claiming that thirteenth spot in the tournament! For both men it is the opportunity of a lifetime and it is one earned because of how they impressed Match Maker Nigel McGuinness in their recent bout on ROH TV. The winner will then head on to "All Star Extravaganza V" on August 3rd in Toronto where he will compete in his First Round match-up!

For either Silas Young or Adam Page this could be the start of a dream come true and all starts in Providence! For the man whose dream lives, it will continue on in Toronto, New York City, and Philadelphia over "Death Before Dishonor XI" weekend and tickets for all those events can be found right here in the ROH Store!

Numbers 14, 15, and 16 are still to be named so make sure you come back to ROHWrestling.com next week to see who the last three competitors in the World Title Tournament will be!!!

NUMBER 14 IS SET!

And The HoT is in...

Twelve spots in the World Title Tournament have been filled with the thirteenth be up for grabs in Providence on July 27th. Now ROHWrestling.com has been informed of the fourteenth man who will join the field of 16 warriors looking to be crowned the next World Champion come "Death Before Dishonor XI" weekend in Philadelphia this September. The newest man to join the pack:

World TV Champion Matt Taven

The man representing the HoT has amassed an impressive record as TV Champion with victories over men like Adam Cole, Eddie Edwards, Matt Hardy, and ACH. Now he looks to have that same success in the World Title Tournament when he begins his journey towards greatness on August 3rd in Toronto at "All Star Extravaganza V"!

THE TAG TEAM SCENE IS ON FIRE!

Huge details on the future of the tag team titles...

The ROH World Tag Team Titles are the most wanted duos championships in all of professional wrestling today and Match Maker Nigel McGuinness is certainly keeping the division red hot!

It was announced in Milwaukee during the pre-show Q&A with McGuinness that on August 3rd in Toronto, as part of the "All Star Extravaganza V" event, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) will make their long-awaited & highly-demanded return to the fold!

Then on Saturday in Dearborn it was announced that on July 27th in Providence The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov) will step into The Proving Ground with the World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) in an attempt to earn a future Tag Title Match! The Hooligans were unsuccessful in their attempt back in March in Chicago but look to get back into the hunt in less than two weeks!

And speaking of the hunt, ROHWrestling.com learned today that on August 3rd, as part of the aforementioned Toronto event, The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards) will challenge O'Reilly & Fish for the World Tag Team Titles!

"I got my bell rung Friday night." said Davey Richards to ROHWrestling.com, "Bobby Fish certainly proved he's got the stuff to be a top guy but I think Saturday night proved that you can't keep me down for long. Not only was I able to bounce back from Fish's kick, but me and Eddie were victorious over Jay & Elgin. As individuals sometimes we will fall, but as a unit, you will be hard pressed to stop The American Wolves. Kyle, Bobby, you guys stopped us once but you had to resort to pulling tights to do it. We stopped you once too but we did it straight up. Now in Toronto we will dance for a third time and this rubber match will see the crowning of new World Tag Team champions. The hunt is on boys."

It's reDRagon versus The American Wolves at "All Star Extravaganza V" and the tag team titles are on the line!!! In addition, ROHWrestling.com has also learned that if The Forever Hooligans prove victorious in their Proving Ground match on 7/27, then on August 17th they will challenge the winner of the reDRagon/Wolves bout!

The temperature is heating up this summer and so is the Ring of Honor tag team title scene!!!

The Fate of #15 Is In Your Hands

It's your chance to have a say....

Fourteen men are set to compete in the World Title Tournament which starts Saturday July 27th when ROH returns to Providence, RI for a huge round of TV Tapings!  The first round matches will go down in Providence & Toronto with the tourney continuing in New York City and Philadelphia during "Death Before Dishonor XI" weekend.

There are still two position left to fill and ROHWrestling.com has learned that originally Match Maker Nigel McGuinness wanted to include BOTH Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards in the tournament given their respective championship resumes.  However both men respectfully declined in order to spend their summer focused on capturing the ROH World Tag Team Titles in the possession of reDRagon.

So with the final 2 spots available, McGuinness found secured one of the entrants who will be announced later today.  As for the other competitor, as we eluded to yesterday, a decision was made to allow you, the ROH Faithful, to select the 15th man!

There are five contracted ROH talents who are in the running and they are:

- ACH
- Tadarius Thomas
- Cedric Alexander
- Caprice Coleman
- QT Marshall

All you have to do is head on over to our official Facebook page and place your vote for whichever man you think deserves an opportunity to fulfill their dream! Voting will close tonight at 11:59pm EST and the winner will be announced on Wednesday here on ROHWrestling.com!

The Final Entrant...

Chicken is back in business!

Earlier today we announced that the 15th entrant into the World Title Tournament would be determined by your votes on our official Facebook page.  We also said that Nigel McGuinness had secured the last entry in the field and he has now confirmed that 16th, and final, name with ROHWrestling.com...

Mark Briscoe!!!

Mark has been out of action since the June 23rd TV Tapings in Baltimore when he was viciously assaulted by S.C.U.M after already having to bow out of Steel Cage Warfare due to injuries suffered during his "Best in the World 2013" World Title bout against brother Jay the previous night.

While Jay Briscoe is still slated to be out of action for the next 3-6 months due to the severe shoulder injury that forced McGuinness to strip him of the World Title, Mark has informed ROH officials that he expects to be cleared by the doctors from his recent concussion come July 26th!

With that in consideration, Nigel McGuinness has named Mark Briscoe as the last entry into the field with his first round match-up taking place on July 27th in Providence!

That's not all though; McGuinness has also informed of us of the first official Opening Round match-up for the tournament and it will be Mark Briscoe versus Adam Cole!  In addition, we have also learned that the winner of that bout will move on to "All Star Extravaganza V" in Toronto for their second round match-up!

With one man left to be named tomorrow based on your Facebook votes, you can expect the other first round match-ups to also be set in the coming days.  The road to the title begins in Providence and leads us straight back home to Philadelphia in September...

The Votes Have Been Counted...

And ACH Is In!!!

The votes on our official Facebook page have been tallied and the results are in!

On Saturday night July 27th, as part of the first round match-ups in the ROH World Title Tournament, ACH will enter the field as the 15th entry and it's all thanks to YOU, the ROH faithful!

In addition, ROHWrestling.com has also been informed that in his first round match-up the man whose name some say stands for Attitude, Charisma, Heart will face off with the BULLET CLUB's representative in the tournament, "The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson!

ACH has a huge mountain to climb if he hopes to advance into the second round but based on his performance against a similar powerhouse named Michael Elgin, ACH certainly has the tools to pick up the victory, it's just a matter of putting it all together to pick up the win!

THE RINGMASTER'S CHALLENGE RETURNS!

It's Cole and Strong In Alabama....

At "Death Before Dishonor IX" in NYC, it was Roderick Strong and Eddie Edwards who clashed in the first ever Ringmaster's Challenge.  It was a 2/3 Falls match, ultimately won by "Die Hard" in a Sudden Death overtime period, but with some very specific stipulations.

The 1st fall of the challenge could ONLY end via pin and it was Roderick who picked up the victory in that initial fall while the 2nd fall, won by Eddie Edwards, could only be won with a submission. The 3rd and final match of the contest was contested under 15 minute Iron Man rules but when those 15 minutes concluded there was no decisive winner.  On the spot, then-Executive Producer Jim Cornette declared there would be a Sudden Death OT and after 40+ minutes of war, Edwards finally picked up the victory.

It has been almost two years since that bout but on September 7th, when ROH debuts in Birmingham at Boutwell Auditorium, the Ringmaster's Challenge will make its return!  And what better combatant to make up one-half of the contest than Roderick Strong...

"This is a test of everything a wrestler has to bring to the table." said Roderick to ROHWrestling.com, "It's heart and conditioning, grappling and submissions, and I gotta say that you'd be hard pressed to find a guy in ROH that's in better condition than me.  So with everything that's been happening the last couple months between me and a certain Adam Cole...spitting on the Code, and the way he took the countout to beat me at Best in the World, not to mention the way we ended up with a DQ on TV, I think it's safe to say that Cole is afraid he can't hang with Mister ROH.  Step up to the plate, kid.  How about we set aside the World Title tournament for one night in Alabama and we do this with a Ringmaster's challenge?"

According to Match Maker Nigel McGuinness, Adam Cole has agreed to the bout and the return of the Ringmaster's Challenge will go down on September 7th in Birmingham! As Strong said it's a test of heart, conditioning, and skill and it will put both Roderick and Cole through the wringer!  Once again the rules are as follows:

1st fall: Pinfall only
2nd fall: Submission only
3rd Fall (if necessary): 15 minute Iron man w/ Sudden Death OT if necessary

THE WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT BEGINS!!!

A Preview of Saturday's Providence event...

As you will see this weekend on ROH TV, the future of Ring of Honor changed on June 23rd when Steel Cage Warfare came to a conclusion and as you saw on the edition of ROH TV available right now the status of the World Title also began to change that day.

The vicious assault on then-World Champion Jay Briscoe forced the hand of Nigel McGuinness and ultimately led to this historic announcement:

07/03/13 NIGEL MCGUINNESS MAKES A HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

For the first time in Ring of Honor history the World Title was vacated. So now, for the first time since "Road To The Title" in June 2002 when Bryan Danielson, Prince Nana, Xavier, Christopher Daniels, Scoot Andrews, Low Ki, Jay Briscoe, Spanky, BioHazard, Paul London, Doug Williams, Jody Fleisch, Jonny Storm, Amazing Red, Jerry Lynn, and AJ Styles began their quest to become the first Ring of Honor Champion, a tournament will be held to crown the 19th World Champion!

The tournament kicks off in Providence THIS Saturday night when we return to Rhode Island for a round of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV Tapings and it will continue on in Toronto and NYC before culminating in Philadelphia during "Death Before Dishonor XI" weekend this September! Not only do we have the first opening round matches for you this weekend but it also marks the return of The Forever Hooligans to ROH competition, a loaded 6-Man Tag match, a teacher versus student collision, and more! Here's the line-up:

Ring of Honor World Title Tournament- First Round Match
Adam Cole vs. Mark Briscoe

Both men had their shot at championship glory during Jay Briscoe's reign but neither man was able to dethrone the 18th World Champion. Now their journey to become number nineteen will begin when they collide with one another in Providence! Mark comes in looking to bring the title back into the Briscoe family while Adam Cole, with his recently questionable behavior, looks to achieve a dream many fans have felt was his destiny since the day he started here in Ring of Honor.

Ring of Honor World Title Tournament- First Round Match
Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt

These two men with a very extensive history outside of Ring of Honor will collide in hopes of getting one step closer to becoming World Champion. For Lethal it is a continuation of a quest that first started in Philadelphia at "Homecoming 2012" when he came up short in his excellent title match with then-champion Davey Richards and continued on into the reign of Kevin Steen in the face of chaos like the events of "Killer Instinct" and the "11th Anniversary". For Dutt it is an opportunity to truly shine in Ring of Honor in a way in which he has never gotten a chance to in the past and what better stepping stone to do so than against a man with whom he has so much history.

Ring of Honor World Title Tournament- First Round Match
"Machine Gun" Karl Anderson vs. ACH

Size & power versus speed & agility, David versus Goliath, it is a story as old as time and one that will certainly be on display in this opening round bout. BULLET CLUB's Karl Anderson is no small man and is certainly not lacking in power as he demonstrated in his bouts with Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong back in April. ACH, on the other hand, has demonstrated his ability to fly around the ring against those same men as well as against competitors like Jay Lethal and Kyle O'Reilly. In addition, ACH has shown a tremendous ability to absorb punishment and keep fighting against the odds. With each singles bout he enters, it seems easy to say that it is the biggest one of ACH's young ROH career but in terms of it's importance, not to mention the size of his opponent, it is safe to say that truly is the case here.

Ring of Honor World Title Tournament- Qualifying Match
Adam Page vs. Silas Young

The newest acquisition to the full-time ROH roster versus "The Last Real Man In Wrestling"...it's the third bout between Adam Page & Silas Young here in Ring of Honor with each man claiming one victory over the other. The first win was Young's as part of the Top Prospect Tournament in January while the second victory went to Page at "Relentless" in May but this is easily the most important meeting between these two combatants as the 13th spot in the World Title Tournament & a date with Tommaso Ciampa will go to the winner while a bout in Toronto with New Japan's own KUSHIDA will go to the loser.

Proving Ground Match
World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly) vs. The Forever Hooligans (Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov)

At the "11th Anniversary Event", The Forever Hooligans made their first ROH appearance as a team but certainly not their first ROH appearance. Rocky Romero reigned as a two-time World Tag Team Champion (one alongside Ricky Reyes and the other with Davey Richards) while Alex Koslov has made sporadic appearances in bouts with Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong, and even Romero, among others.

That night though, Romero & Koslov brought their own championship pairing to Chicago to face off with The American Wolves and then the following day, as part of the ROH TV Tapings, they challenged the newly-crowned World Tag Team Champions Fish & O'Reilly in reDRagon's very first title defense. On both occasions Romero & Koslov were unsuccessful in acquiring victories but, if nothing else, they left ROH with the fans wanting to see more of the Hooligans.

Well this weekend the ROH faithful in Providence will have just that opportunity as the current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champions return to action in an attempt to earn a future World Tag Title shot against reDRagon!

Honor Personified Six Man Tag
"Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen, "Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa & "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin vs. BJ Whitmer & the American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)

Last week we learned that Match Maker Nigel McGuinness had signed a huge 6-Man Tag for our upcoming evening in Providence that he told ROHWrestling.com is "Honor Personified" as it pits "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin, "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa, and Kevin Steen against BJ Whitmer & The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)!

"You may find it shocking that I would call this honor personified given that I selected Steen to participate." said McGuinness to ROHWrestling.com when he made the announcement, "But I believe in my heart, after watching Kevin closely since he lost the title to Jay Briscoe, and particularly with how he stood up for Ring of Honor in Steel Cage Warfare, I believe that he truly has rediscovered that honor he had some years ago before Steve Corino got into his ear. As for the others, well there is no argument that BJ, Elgin, and The Wolves stood for honor throughout the battles with S.C.U.M and I have certainly seen Ciampa, since he returned in Toronto, show that his path is an honorable one which he hopes leads to the World Title. These 6-man represent the best elements ROH has to offer and in Providence they will no doubt show why we are the best pro wrestling on the planet!"

Student vs. Teacher
Michael Bennett w/ Maria Kanellis vs. Brutal Bob Evans
They have been at each other's sides almost since the first day "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett set foot in Ring of Honor but after the events on recent episodes of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" TV, Michael Bennett has parted ways with his long time trainer Brutal Bob and done so in violent fashion. Now, at the surprising request of Brutal Bob, Match Maker Nigel McGuinness has signed a bout for Providence pitting the former Prodigy against his former trainer!

Will Brutal Bob give Bennett a beating like he used to back in Mike's greener days or will it be Michael Bennett who shows that the student has surpassed the teacher? We will find out in Providence on the 27th and you can guarantee that Maria will be in the corner of her man that night!

Four Corner Survival
Vinny Marseglia vs. Todd Hanson vs. Kongo vs. Brian Fury

All four of these men have been standouts in previous ROH Tryout/Seminars and now will get their chance to shine as part of the ROH TV Tapings this Saturday! Vinny Marseglia has the most experience inside the ROH ring having most recently fought Tommaso Ciampa at "Dragon's Reign", not to mention competing in that ROH Contract Match QT Marshall won at "Boiling Point 2012" last time we were in Providence. Will that experience prove the edge Marseglia needs to be victorious in this one?

Also scheduled to appear:
- ROH World Television Champion: Matt Taven w/ Truth Martini
- Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander
- Tadarius Thomas
- #PartyBoys (Mike Sydal and Zizou Middoux)
- Plus ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness!
