It's time to get your triple triad on as Final Fantasy 8 has now joined it's predecessor FF 7 on Steam and retails for a mere 11.99 which is surprisingly cheaper then 7's launch price of 14.99, my guess is Square probably figured 8 was going to sell less then 7.

not going to lie, I hated this one when it first came out since I was turned off by the draw/junction system and thought the story was a bit flimsy and felt the game relied too much on cutscenes and not enough on actual game when compared to 6 and 7's but I grabbed it again since I am much older now and I can hopefully judge the game on it's own merits.

Just finished replaying this on PS3... SO much fricking fun. Managed to complete the game in it's entirety. Got the certificate for beating all the top weapons... Ultimate and Omega... So much fun. Still hated Triple Triad...

I might give it a go again... although I still have it on disc come to think of it.

I was never really in love with VIII but I was too young to be that great at it so you never know. FFIX was more my bag,

Well on the plus side square-enix added a Magic booster option which allows you to get 100 of the basic magics thus allowing you to bypass the whole drawing and stockpiling tedium in the early game, once you learn how top refine items, cards and basic spells drawing-stockpiling is not really that necessary so the game is a bit less tedious. Also the PC version comes with the japan-only Chocobo world mini game which can be used to level up the Chocobo GF as well as net you some nice items and weapons in the main game.

i got it but i have no idea about this junction system. sounds complicated.

It's not that hard once you start playing.  From what I remember (it's been a while) you bind a summon (Eidolon or whatever) to your character and then you stockpile certain spells to that summon and that's what your character can cast.  Once you've spent an hour or so figuring it out it's easy.

Junction system in a nutshell:  Your characters can do NOTHING except attack unless you junction a GF to them first.  Once you do you can give them options ro use Items, Cast magic, summon a GF or Draw Magic.

FF8 does not use MP like most games, instead you can have up to 100 uses of each spell.  Much like junctioning a GF, you can junction Maguc as well.  Each GF lets you junction magic to various stats.  Certain spells junction to different stats better than others, rule of thumb is offense goes with offense and defense goes with defense.

Hell no you're not.  Ive got a good 100+ hours in just TT, especially considering you get some damn good items from them.
